He has said somewhere along the line that he would like to stay involved in the club but at a reduced level.

He wants to be able to travel during summer etc...

No, he said recently (I think on 360) that his involvement at the club finishes once his coaching stint is over.

I believe he's going to be a regular contributor to Demonland whilst based in Hawaii.

The "time will tell" line is a cop out here,

LOL, what else is there to do? Ring up Roosy? Ring up Goodwin?

Knock yourself out

There's nothing we can do until Roosy calls it or he doesn't - If he doesn't you can pay out on Party Boy some more and gee, that'll show us.

Or Party Boy will be right and that will be that.

For chook read goose.

a flippant retort of minimal substance.

I agree that we may be better off with Roos taking a holistic role...or rather continuing it and leave game day to someone who can do it better.

Those who can't see this are blinded by man crushes.

Tanya Hird took a back seat.

Or maybe that was a bike seat.

I can never remember.

OP was asked "is this opinion or fact?", and the response was "time will tell"....

You don't think that's a cop out? Either say something or don't say something, don't come out with a big call and then back it up with "wellllll maybe it will happen maybe it won't"...

Weak.

Laughingly as pointed out by others Roos had/has always flagged leaving the day role to his appointed in 2016. It's not news however.

It is when you suffer from severe brain damage and you cannot retain information.

Which counts in most of us.

Anyway,

Great News.

If the passion/commitment isn't there, then so be it. He seems like a family man who's after a more relaxed life. He had to be bent over sideways with a green hand to even take the job. Having Roos in any capacity/at all can only help us.

I feel like I don't know much about Goodwin or how much he's contributed to the game plan so I just hope he doesn't get indigestion when served a bigger piece of the pie.

I reckon it's pretty obvious that the OP gets good mail, but, upon deeper thought, I reckon accurately deciphering the information and presenting it in a clear format may be more challenging. Chinese whispers and all...

You're way off the mark if you think that 'bb'.

He may not have the cattle to get the result at times but the way he sets up against oppo teams is exceptional. We got the result against Geelong because we took away their game, we almost did the same against the Pies but Cloke kicked 7 straight.

Forget Oxley, he was a side issue. Frost had the better of Hogan, Cloke kicked 7 but they had to change the way they like to play to beat us. If our players had of played to instruction and hit the contest hard and used the ball better going forward then it would have been closer and maybe a win.

The Saints game wasn't a tactical defeat, it was a stuff up.

Ray...been watching keenly for the past year and half of Roos tenure. Great at the overalls but gets caught often at the game. Yes it's cattle but more the how and when you use them and where, he had automons at Sydney..they'd coach themselves on game day, ours can't (yet)

It may well be part of the grand plan to 'enable' our list but it seems to me you have to manage the game when you have to.

We can differ ..not a problem :)

This is not part of the plan, goody is going to slowly do more over the course of the year but paul roos is our coach in 2016.

This plan has been in place since roosy signed and has not changed.

Goodwin will be head coach in 2016.

Roos to take on a mentor role for players and coach before his 3 year tenure finishes.

Could very well be stating the obvious partyboy. Goodwin will be coach in 2016.... September 2016, by which point Roos will take a back seat and finish his contract in transitionary mentor mode. Seems fairly obvious from the point Goodwin was appointed.

This.

I think people need to stop believing the conspiracy theories and just take Roos on face value. He will do out as plan to coach right up till the end off 2016 and gracefully hand the job over to Goodwin.

He is training and mentoring Goodwin like an apprentice. Next year yes he will give him more responsibility but Roos is smart enough to know he still needs to do alot of off field stuff as well Membership promotion, sponsers meeting etc.. Paul Roos will not back down from his plan and rush Goodwin in. There is no need to. This was the plan right from the day Roosy signed on the dotted line and he will continue to do what he has promised. We have all seen he is true to his word.

As moon mentioned cheers for stating the obvious. Nothing new here.

I still dont get how Roos can cut ties completely at the end of 2016. He would have done so much work to fix the club, the culture, and watched all these players grow under his watch and surely would want to be involved in some capacity, even from a distance.

Sounds like that wont be the case though.

The answer is no....

He's already said he walks away at the end of 2016 and that's the end of it.

If he's still around the club afterwards, it kind of makes Goodwin's job pretty tough. Every time there's a loss, people'd be saying get Roos. If PR moves on, I'm not sure that's then an option. For me, it's absolutely vital that we retain Peter Jackson beyond 2017. We need that off field stability and sound, unbiased, professional decision making.

Speaking of posters with good mail. SPR is the guy you should be listening to. PartyBoy came in and mentioned Goodwin coming to the MFC, but he wasn't the first one on Demonland to do so. I'll leave it there.

    TRAINING: Monday 20th January 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
