At the risk of hijacking this dying forum into the Goodes booing issue: An earlier poster listed a number of booable things that Goodes does or has done. The point is that there are many players who do that sort of stuff as much as he does. The thing is he gets continually booed and they don't. Why?

And those players get boo'd as well. Goodes is the only one to come out and make it an issue to the media. Of course if people think it rattles him they are going to continue it in an attempt to put him off his game.

Yeah but Goodes seem to do it more than most. I just remember in the early days he got away with everything. This is why im not a fan. I mean at 1/4 time last night he totally over reacted and had a bit of a scuffle going and then again when Buddy took a mark and Rance slid and again Goodes butted in and over reacted. Its like he cant mind his own business and just has to get involved in something.

Yes the others do get booed, but only occasionally and usually just after they have done another low act. I used the word 'continually' when referring to Goodes being booed.

And while it has been big in the media, has Goodes really personally made an issue of it in the media himself? I don't think he has.

He gets booed because he has a high profile outside of football. Some of that reflects a portion of the population that just can't accept an outspoken aborigine and are easily swept into booing him. Some would possibly boo anyone who regardless of race has a high profile outside of footy and dares to play footy. Others are just sheep.

Sure, you are entitled to feel that way. But does that cause you to boo him every time he appears? I expect not. (I feel the same about Harvey from NM. But I don't boo him every time I see him).

I don't like Goodes because it appears as though he was named Australian of the Year on the strength of pointing out a 13yr old girl during a football game.
I also didn't like the fact he then used that platform to then shitcan the country during his acceptance speech.

So .... Boooo to you Goodesy.
And before anyone labels me a racist.
If I had the opportunity to boo Tim Flannery, I'd boo him too.

no they don't.

And you'd know that they don't.

So you are lying. I'm sure you are not ignorant. That leaves lying as the only alternative.Just baffled as to why.

Many players do exactly what Goodes does onfield (boomer harvey for one) and NEVER get booed. You can point to dozens of sneaky snipers, precious umpire pets, or self-important tools and the truth is that they don't get booed at games or across games. It is a shocking argument - it is not even an argument, it is just a shameful rationalisation - a defence - of racist behaviour. It is gutless and horrid and should be rejected out of hand.

This is so clearly a racial issue. Those that deny it (and I mean all if you) cannot all be ignorant to the sort of social psych pressures that lead to racist behaviour, cannot be ignorant to the 'cultural' racism inherent in white australia and the growing tolerance for racist attitudes over the last 10 years. It is utterly implausible. Actually, when you add up all those effects, the null hypothesis is that booing is racist it becomes your job to disprove it. All the forces at work make racist motivations the most likely state. Your job is to prove it isn't. And you can't.

Lot's of players are unpleasant or easy to dislike. They don't get booed. Goodes does. Join the dots and man up the lot of you.

At whotethorn vs the druggies. I long for the day when we play as nasty as Hawthorn. They've been like this since there 60s, and we've been nice for too long. VDB, Brayshaw, TMac, viney, Vince... Things might be turning

Agree 100%. Well said. Not sure I agree with the null hypothesis analogy. Are you a closet frequentist:) ?

shoulder dislocation for chip apparently. He did the injury in r2 against the dons as well. Just hope the hawks can run over thew top of them. Bummers holding it together so far.

Scores level late in the second.....bummers getting better or hawks getting worse??

Who do i want to lose?

Whorethorn: lose this and a 3peat is almost impossible

Essendrug: Lose because they are Karmichael Hunt Cheats

Bloody tough decision to make.

Unlike us, Essendon are not spooked by the Hawks.

Oh yes. Whorethorn have smashed us up since the early 70's

We have won sparingly (hung on)

Would be the ultimate to give them a dry root smashing in September....Bitter but Oppromistic!! :)

With Watts to goal after the siren, after a push in the back from Frawley..

Gotta love how the media spent the entire week not only telling Essendon they needed to pull their fingers out, but even mapped out entire strategies for how to rattle and beat the Hawks.

Robbo was especially shameless on 360 when he had Lewis and Goddard on, basically telling Goddard the entire plan to throw the Hawks off.

Amazing how 17 other teams don't get that kind of red carpet treatment from the media.

I think you meant Hogan lines up for his tenth after the siren

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan.
