Whats with the late goals? Conditioning? Concentration? youth?

Posted

Maybe at HT the commentators can learn some Melbourne names that aren't Roos and Gawn.

Tired of them going on about Geelong stats, like anyone cares.

Who would have picked that? Barring late goals we have been terrific in all areas.

The challenge is to keep that up in the second half. We are certainly in with a chance!

at least its not gonna be a 100Pt loss (i think).

NEED to keep this up for your fans MFC! (you owe them after last week)

Is it a coincidence that we play better when we don't allow the opposition to have a loose player in defence?

nope.

but it's also a clear part of our game - we love to have cross mopping up.

the key is not to kick to a two-on-one contest every time the ball goes in.

roos' match-ups are working a pearler today:

vince - blicavs

viney - selwood

matt jones - enright

watts - taylor

dunn - hawkins

all working at the moment.

[censored] ourselves late. The only mental scars that actually have any merit, and can only be fixed by winning games. Or a great psychiatrist...

You're watching a big part of the Melbourne resurgence for years to come today, Demonlanders. It's huge and has a beard.

Brayshaw will be a culture changer. He knew Enright was coming for him on the wing. He had the option of a panicky handball but took a hit for the team to ensure a stoppage. Love him.

Jeemy Howe - 0 disosals

Needs to kick a couple of goals in the 2nd half. Hes not holding up his end of the bargain and we are in a winning position in what was supposed to be an unwinnable game.

He isn't taking marks but his contests in the air have resulted in a couple of goals.

Dunn has no vision at all when kicking out, N Jones at times a headless chook, and how about not just bombing it in the forward line for once, but hell the effort is there with what we have put on the park.

Wow, this is unexpected, and bloody good. Some really competent footy in that half Dees, great stuff. Viney on Selwood is perfect, he doesn't care about 186 or how good they've been, or how shite we've been, he just smashes in at the next contest. Brayshaw the same. And Bernie Vince is a very very good player.

Max Gawn

13 disposals

7 marks - 6 contested

5 tackles

4 clearances

4 inside 50s'

1 goal 1 behind

Best half by a ruckman in the AFL this season? Amazing numbers

Many on here wanted to/want to delist Gawn.

Not on your life.

It's been just the sort of break out performance we have all been waiting for!

I said today was all about intent and the development of those who matter. Hard not to be satisfied to half time. We are making errors and they will start to make us pay more but as long as we keep up that intent and effort and don't drop our heads that's all you can ask.

Brayshaw is a machine. Can only imagine the damage he will do when he has the muscle and endurance to fit with the intent. Spencer showing why he should play ahead of Jamar. Gawn showing why he should play ahead of both of them.

nate has to stand up and match it with gawns effort

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

    TRAINING: Wednesday 5th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
