Agree that he's been huge when we most need him this year. Absolutely love the bloke and I also think his leadership has gone to the next level. He seems a little less overtly critical of others in his approach than perhaps he may have been in the past and more of just "get behind me boys, because we're going to fight this one to the death!" The footy/war analogy has always been a bit tenuous, but I know if I ever did need to fight in the trenches in one, blokes like Jack are absolutely the kind you'd want to be in it with. 2 1 Quote

DeeSpencer 26,675 Posted July 23, 2023 Posted July 23, 2023 Playing like a captain whilst Max picks and chooses, should probably make it official 1 2 1 Quote
Walter 0 Posted July 23, 2023 Posted July 23, 2023 Agree with all of the above, absolutely love Vines, however, he did go at 48% disposal efficiency today. His disposal at times is the only thing holding him back from becoming an A grader. But his will to win is unmatched. Quote

He is as tough as nails and probably eats broken glass for breakfast. Loved the commentary on Ch7, he is a wildebeest! 😄 2 Quote

Min Xie 284 Posted July 23, 2023 Posted July 23, 2023 Watched vs Brisbane final 7+ minutes a few times, the goal he kicked was unbelievable. In that kind of situation, probably only he or Kozzie could be able to do it by their own. He wasn't waiting for an opportunity, he was searching for and even creating an opportunity for himself. What a man he is! 4 1 Quote
Jaded No More 68,976 Posted July 23, 2023 Posted July 23, 2023 He is cooked now. Been insanely good all year. I hope he has a rest when Clarry is back. 3 1 Quote

You like to to ANTAGONISE!! Even you should have a line in the sand DS Apologies to the board for giving DS my air time. The best way to deal with this man is to ‘Ghost him’ and I took his bait. Gawndy the Great 9,011 Posted July 23, 2023 Posted July 23, 2023 He is playing Clarrys role. He is one that has sacrificed his individual game for the team. Hopefully when clarry gets a hard tag in future we can come back to this. 1 Quote

If you were a footballer, I'd say you wouldn't make it. Maybe my language was harsh but if you watched Gawn live today you’d see a guy who managed his way around the ground, often content to man O’Brien away from the play rather than sprinting back to plug the backline or making sure he’s the long down the line target. Can argue it’s smart as a veteran ruck doing it alone but do you want a captain having to manage his work load? Even playing with Grundy has been about managing him through the season. Viney is busting it for every minute he’s out there Quote
