Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I heard Mark Robinson saying that Prestia might be angling for a move away from GC, and that with a year on his contract he may even use the "unsafe workplace" argument in relation to the club drug culture.

No destinations were specified, but I bet his family would be angling pretty hard to get him to MFC.

My biggest worry is list balance. We simply can't have too many small mids.

Hopefully Tyson, Vanders, Petracca & Brayshaw provide enough size.

wow I just looked Prestia up on Footywire and hes listed at 175 cm.. had no idea he was that short

Good player and a ball magnet, but I wouldn't give our first pick for him

awesome, that means that you would have also seen that he has been averaging 25+ possessions a game since 2013

However i wouldn't been offering our pick 5 (currently) for him. But a later pick, plus a Howe...etc.

His disposal averages and other stats over the last 3 years indicate how good he is. Prestia is a gun, 22 yrs old with 70-odd games, has another 8-10 years to play. Would give our first pick for him in a heartbeat.

Your kidding yourself if you wouldn't give up a first round draft pick for him.

Good lord, if Prestia is available and we don't offer ND5 I would be disappointed.

If we had a talent like that and someone offered ND25 and the right to overpay Howe - what would you say?

Think before you post.

He gets a lot of the ball but his impact on games is questionable. Doesn't kick goals and his disposal effectiveness is absolutely terrible

You'd have to be insane to want to give up pick 5 or 6 for him

Can't agree. Prestia wins most of his ball on the inside , which has affected his DE stats, but has a thumping kick.

Can go outside too, but GCS have been light on for inside mids, so Prestia has exclusively played inside. His burst speed is very good.

Hasn't kicked a lot of goals, but has kicked important ones for GC (is a better kick on the run than set shot though).

Prestia's probably been the Sun's second best mid over the last three years, and one of the few that stepped up in Gary's absence last year.

Don't worry too much about his height. It was supposed to see him drop in his draft year, but he still went at pick 9 and has been one of the best performed players of the 2010 draft class. If anything, his value might have appreciated, or at worst held. Certainly has not depreciated.

He was also averaging 27 disposals this year before injury. Thats more then any player on our list.

If we picked him up Nathan Jones would be the happiest man in the world. He would take a huge work load off his shoulders and more attention and tagging would go into prestia.

You definitely would not have to be insane.

He's a very good footballer and ferocious tackler. I would give up that pick in a heartbeat, however he wouldn't be my first choice to trade out for.

I rate Viney, and I rate Prestia. They are both tough hard players who punch above their weight and give their all.

Bur no club in the league would give up pick 5 for either of them.

id love Prestia at the MFC just not for that price. Could get much better players with pick 5.

I think dion will be a demon in 2016.

When he was injured hh he was averaging ariund 26 touches 5 tackles and number one in the comp for clearances, id happily hand over our first pick, especially given he is still so young

Lol list balance. I get what you're saying mate, but Prestia averages high 20s in disposals and is quick. His disposal averages have risen every season he's played. Someone that can win that much of the ball at this level and shows obvious leadership qualities would add a great deal to our team and midfield. Would give up our first rounder every day of the week.

From a list management perspective, it's not like getting Prestia precludes us from getting another tall midfielder unless there is one available at that price range.

We got out last one from the rookie draft, and he's working out really well.

I see nothing wrong with ND5 for Prestia and a separate trade/draft/rookie draft for another vanDenberg if we can find one.

Dealing with Essendon is always like pulling teeth at the best of times.I say let them whither on the vine and see if we can get a good (non druggie) player in the aftermath.

Looked what happened last year with Ryder/Port. Where there's a will there's a way, especially if Zaharakis can pull the "safe work environment" that Ryder did.

BTW Zaharakis is not one of their 34 druggies.

Don't think Zaharakis will be going anywhere IMO. He supported Essendon as a kid and is essentially their big hope in the midfield. They'll have cash to pay him.

Has he shown any signs of discontent or said anything?

Recent pick 5's 2012 back

2012 Jake Stringer

2011 Mathew Buntine

2010 Jared Polec

2009 Ben Cunnington

2008 Michael Hurley

2007 Jarrad Grant

I think I'd take Prestia. Small players can be effective, think Boomer Harvey.

we need players who can see ball, get ball, use ball.

if if he can get over his knee injury without any major concerns - and it's a big IF at this stage, as apparently it was a pretty nasty one - then we'd be mad not to chase prestia.

in terms of targetting players from the northern clubs, prestia and treloar would be top tier, dixon, bennell and josh kelly next, and then the likes of plowman (richmond want him), tomlinson, leuenberger (again, tigers into him in a big way apparently), lonergan, et al.

Tigers want everyone.

It's a sound strategy for them though, going for more mature talent, in a year when their earliest picks are likely to yield lesser talent than most years.

Not sure they have the resources to pull many trades off though.

Berger wouldn't surprise, with Maric getting on & not much decent ruck depth.

Can't help but think of Garry Lyon's 'big call for 2015' when Classified returned this year.

Along the lines of one of the Sun's stars would become a Demon (he might have mumbled Prestia when pressed by Hutchy).

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
