Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

    Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

    Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

    We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

    However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

    The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

    Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

    We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

    WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

    Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Can't help but think of Garry Lyon's 'big call for 2015' when Classified returned this year.

Along the lines of one of the Sun's stars would become a Demon (he might have mumbled Prestia when pressed by Hutchy).

Lyon mentioned Prestia as the player that would leave, never mentioned Melbourne or any other club though

He gets a lot of the ball but his impact on games is questionable. Doesn't kick goals and his disposal effectiveness is absolutely terrible

You'd have to be insane to want to give up pick 5 or 6 for him

Mate, you seriously have no idea. Our first pick for Prestia would be a massive win for us, and a great vote of confidence in the future of MFC.

I think dion will be a demon in 2016.

When he was injured hh he was averaging ariund 26 touches 5 tackles and number one in the comp for clearances, id happily hand over our first pick, especially given he is still so young

I hope so Sir Paul. He has an excellent CV, and would be a fantastic addition to our midfield. If he is indeed contemplating a move south, the Dees would seem to be an obvious choice. Pick 5 would be fair and reasonable if we are satisfied that his knee will stand up.

Recent pick 5's 2012 back

2012 Jake Stringer

2011 Mathew Buntine

2010 Jared Polec

2009 Ben Cunnington

2008 Michael Hurley

2007 Jarrad Grant

I think I'd take Prestia. Small players can be effective, think Boomer Harvey.

Not when they have to run with Nat Fyfe they will all struggle The The modern midfielder is 190 cm plus very strong and can run all day while busting tackles

Too much sport, tonight we have Wimbledon, The Tour de France, State of Origin, The Ashes!

How to watch it all? Not enough screens, not enough time. Life can be hell.

The offer to Hannebery clearly shows we want a good player and a mid at that and are willing to pay for it.

So Prestia would have to be sounded out, as would Motlop, as would Trelor, as would Gaff.

We made a massive pitch for dion a couple of years back under neeld, he seriously considered it and his family were all for it but ultimately we were a mess off field, that's totally different now and the club are pushing hard to add a quality player to the list.

Would be wrapt with Prestia but if O Mearas knee checks out good I'd prefer we target him he is lethal both ways, get both to us would probs be too bigger ask, would be super keen to look at a Carlilse/Henderson/ Dixon as another KPF to help out Hogan as Dawes and Pedersen are just good 3rd Talls

Should perhaps use Richmond's doctor rather than our own, though.

In a delist/trade thread???

Sorry Moonie, pick 5 for Jeremy Cameron and Josh Kelly. There is that better.

This thread is full of hypothetical dreams, forgive me if I dream of tonight's viewing conundrums.

Mind you pick 5 and Howe for Prestia & Dixon could be on. Dream on.

assuming the ladder stays where it is, we have pick 4.

trade ND4 to a middle of the table team ie. Geelong for both ND9 and ND27

trade ND22 (845 points) and ND27 (703 points) to GWS for tomlinson and ND28

use ND9 on a Ah Chee or Curnow / etc

GWS get to use the extra points to offset selecting both Hopper and Kennedy (presumed early picks of ND5 (1751 points) and ND9 (1469 points) respectively) totalling 3220 points

ND10 = 1375

ND22 = 845

ND27 = 703

ND46 = 331

total points = 3254

How is that? How would you reform the Academy player bidding system?

My solution.

Each club younger than 20 years can have an academy, each club over twenty years old gets father son.

Every five years each club can have a max of three picks from F/S or academy for free. They can use these all in one year or spread them out depending on the talent coming through. The five years is a rolling five years.

If a club want more than the three picks then they can have one per year, which would be governed by the rules as they were, i.e they can't get them for their last pick and would need to pay close to market price for them.

This sounds complex but is actually fairly simple and allows for forward planning by all clubs, and removes the disadvantages of having F/S coming through or academies.

God I hope we don't go down the path of recruiting players based on physical dimensions. Hawthorn have never seen height as a priority with their mids. Prestia is a gun and is worth pick 5 plus Howe.

How tall is Luke Dodge? 186cm. Fyfe is tall and strong and has all the moves that a smaller man has

And that's a difficult typo, jumped right over Luke Fodge and Luke Godge

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

    Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

    TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

    The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

    There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
