Great interview with Neal on AFL360.

Robbo asked such moronic, negative questions...

"are people feeling sorry for you?"

"when are you going to die"

"what's going to happen to your family?"

good work Robbo you leech

The Footy Show raised half a mil for Neale's fight last night.

Neale has done an amazing job raising money for a cure. His interview last night was great and it was nice to see his wife and 2 daughters in the audience and how hard they have been working on this campaign as well.

As soon as the interview was over I jumped on the mnd site and donated. I do not know 1 single person fighting this horrible disease but seeing Neale's battle, its something I would never want to go through or anyone close to me.

There are 2 reasons for me going to the QB game.

95% of it is to rock up for the 'Reverend' beanie in tow. The other 5% is to contribute to get as high an attendance as possible.

0% is to go and support our players. The fact that after all these years (as a group) they still pick and choose when to give 4 quarter efforts is disgusting and downright offensive to all those MFC members who continually give of their time and money and receive a virtual slap in the face for it.

Save a few percent to support a few of the boys. N Jones, Hogan, Garlett, Brayshaw, T McDonald, Vanders.

I was booked on a flight and all ready to fly over tonight until work got in the way. Absolutely spewing, re booked for the weekend of the Brisbane game. I'll still be wearing my beanie on Monday.

Is this the sort of experience that has made you a hateful person Ethan? If so, go and give yourself a good flogging!

Neale was ar traing this morning. He was standing, watching training and adressed the players in a huddle in the middle of the ground. There were gufffaws of laughter! He talked to the fans, especially the senior females whom he adressed as "love".And they loved it as he posed for photos with them and signed autographs. You would not have known he is ill.By the way, why was he called The Reverend?I forget. And why did the club dispense with hie services?I reckon he was a terrific coach.

I noticed a TV camera filming his talk to the players, does anyone here know when this will be televised? I would love to hear what he said,by the sounds of it he could have been a comedian as he had the Melbourne players in stitches.

They showed at least some of it on the telecast of the game tonight. Apparently the Melbourne players raised $10,000 for Freeze MND. At least one of the jokes was about Viney only putting in $5. Another was how Chunk, who addressed the group before Neale, was always shy and at the back when Neale was coach. It was great to see.

Yes, I remember & it got me thinking. Neale began his MFC career as the Head Coach of the team but it was the pre-season of 2004 when Paul Gardner was President and membership sales were poor that he was asked to get out and sell the Club. As a supporter I'll never know but it looked as though his contract had a new clause - Sell our Club to the masses - & he did! He became The Reverend and his preaching worked.

I think 'The Reverend' nickname was given to him while coaching the Dees and I recall it was because he is quite religious.

Given that he has such a strong history with our team, I wonder if the club would consider making this an annual MND fund raising game.

Neale would be the face of the campaign as he is doing such a fantastic job.

I can see it becoming the footy equivalent of the 'pink Jane McGrath day' at the SCG cricket test match.

Would be a great cause and may attract a lot of non-footy supporters visitng Melbourne for the long weekend, especially when preceded by the walk to the G.

Would be great to do it while he is still with us rather than later as a memorial.

If we don't there is every chance Sheedy will take up the idea for EFC and they have another 'blockbuster' game.

There seems to be a bit love on the Facebook supporter groups for the 'Neil Danaher Cup' annual game between us the Bombers with funds going to MND research.

Cannot stand the Bombers personally - too much hatred after 2000 still!, not to mention the Times Hird would pull 2 late goals out of his ringer to beat us. FAAARRK! STILL HATE EM. Don't even want to think about the last few years.

However I think the idea has merit and would love our clubs to get together and make this happen. The Daniher name is obviously huge in greater tullamarine and became loved at our club, the amount of cash Freeze MND has made is mind boggling to say the least. Let's run with it and turn it into something lasting that can make a long term difference to this horrible disease as well as promoting our club(s) for the longer term

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
