THE SAGA CONTINUES - WADA APPEALS

Recommended Posts

Had to chuckle at Tanya's comment in The Age that dear old James was quote.... "dopey......very dopey."

Exactly, finally Tanya gets it. Exquisite.

Finally a confession from the Hiird camp

What sane human decides riding in today's conditions (for 65km, no less) is a good idea anyway? The mind boggles.

It seems he is spending the night in hospital under observation. Let's hope he makes a full recovery; we need to hear his side of the story, after all.

summed it here ^_^

Dees2014, what makes you think that Hird and Reid will be called to/allowed to be witnesses?

And how are they relevant to the specific appeal against the players or Danks?

I would have thought if ASADA had a skerrick of evidence against Hird and Reid they would have already used it.

Keep in mind WADA can bring in new evidence only if it was not known at the time of the AFL Tribunal.

Don't see it happening, tbh.

We are working under CAS rules here. WADA can bring any new evidence up they like - it is not like a local court. That is why Hird and his mates are in such panic. Most of the new evidence will come from the witnesses who were nobbled by Hird's hatchet men before the AFL Tribunal hearing, but this time they will be compelled by the Victorian courts to give evidence under oath to CAS. And they will. It is Essendon's and Hird's worst nightmare.

As far as why this seems as though it is at the last minute, well for the AFL Tribunal witnesses were not required to give evidence under oath basically on a technicality which does not exist for CAS and most legal experts seem to agree that this time these witnesses will no longer be able to hide behind a technicality. Further, the prosecution of coaches under ASADA/WADA is not unusual to follow a guilty case against players. Just look at the famous cycling cases where the cases were well and truly proven before infraction notices were even served on coaches and doctors. The same will happen here.

But it's the AFL suppressing the truth, not Hird! Didn't you see Albert's presser?

Let's not forget, Hird has been very forthcoming with "his side of the story" since that tribunal finding, as he'd promised to tell all throughout the investigation. Well... except for the part where he said, "we're all going to drop this now and never speak of it again."

So Dank is to appeal even though he refused to appear at his own case. Is this guy for real?

The hearing may mean the World Anti-Doping Agency's appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport against the findings of the AFL anti-doping tribunal will be delayed.

Stephen Dank to appeal AFL lifetime ban

Would WADA be worried?

Only significant new evidence which would support WADA case is likely to overturn parochial AFL decision

Still cant work out how Dank isnt in jail

Because he didn't do anything to anyone, not that anyone can prove (yet) that is.

wonder what the odds are of him turning up to his own appeal? lol

DC, the funny thing is he probably wouldn't turn up, just have his lawyers argue points of law.

He is such a creep, just like his buddy Hird.

I read a few days ago that the WADA brief to CAS was going to contain new evidence but I haven't seen anything further on that point since.

My guess is that its fifty/fifty as to whether a hearing involving Dank will ever take place.

"Fell off". Right. Are there any lengths the AFL will not go to to, to silence this brave campaigner for truth and justice?

But not even their hit men can overcome the protective powers of 3 Anzac day medals.

I can see Gill in his lair right now, pursing his lips and drumming his fingertips together, saying "Why am I surrounded by fools and incompetents?"

Are you invoking the Royal Family / MI5 / Princess in the tunnel conspiracy theory?

PS Ilove the "inspired by Lance Armstrong" post :-)))

    REDLEG PRIDE by Meggs

Hump day mid-week footy at the Redlegs home ground is a great opportunity to build on our recent improved competitiveness playing in the red and blue.   The jumper has a few other colours this week with the rainbow Pride flag flying this round to celebrate people from all walks of life coming together, being accepted. AFLW has been a benchmark when it comes to inclusivity and a safe workplace.  The team will run out in a specially designed guernsey for this game and also the following week

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm
