I reckon if you're within touch at 3 quarter time vs Port you're a chance. Their game plan seems to be really taxing and they have to be careful not to fade for the second half of the year.

It's interesting because last year Port was the competition's stand out fourth quarter side. They ran out games better than anyone.

Don't forget who they've played so far - Fremantle, Sydney, North and Hawthorn. That's the best three sides in the comp plus a preliminary finalist and possibly the 5th best side in the competition as well. Could not have had a harder first month.

They'll be fine.

Freo have now beaten 3 of last year's top 6 teams (and thrashed WCE). They are hunting down a top 2 spot as they know they can't win the GF unless they do. Expect them to be more rulthless than usual. Will be a good test of our aggressive play. Looking forward to it.

They look much better this year than they did when they made the GF in 2013. More firepower up front, Fyfe is even better, more midfield rotations (e.g. Lachie Neale), better back up for Sandilands.

Other than Sydney being really really good, I'm not sure what changed in the second half to turn the game in Sydney's favour, but whatever it was, you'd hope we're able to work out something and use it on Sunday. If we don't, and we let them start against us like they did against Sydney, we'll be done by half time.

The Brisbane Bears are in a world of pain.

Meth Coke are not much better and are flogging them at the Gabba.

These are the teams we must learn to pump this year.

Some Geelong player that I don't really know is tearing it up a little at the Cattery. Not too concerned though, since it's not our club.

Clark is having a very good first term, his goal kicking is excellent

Hes started very well Chook, hard to watch

Teams don't pull up well from playing the Dees, hey?

GC lose terribly to St Kilda, GWS nowhere near Sydney and now Adelaide getting smashed by the Dogs. Don't bet on the Tigers next week…oh..

How good is Todd Goldstein? He's rucked completely alone all day, and he's running over the top of Blicavs, Stanley and Clark. Continuing to contest at the stoppages and in the backline.

Was thinking the same thing. Been getting his own ball and clearing it like a mid. Very good game.

Despite having played all their games in Victoria and three straight at Simonds Stadium, Geelong are 1-3 and looking a shadow their former selves.

Mitch backed the wrong horse.

Have we softened up the Crows for a Bulldog mauling?

Yep.

No one wins the week after they play us.

Good luck, Richmond.

It's a pity we drew Adelaide over there in a second consecutive road trip, they're obviously not nearly as good as they think they are.

Good on the Dogs though. A year in which the Bulldogs and Melbourne are far more competitive and Geelong is far more inept will be a great year, not just for me selfishly, but for the competition.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the

Thankfully, the offseason has recharged me, and I’m back—ready t
