POST MATCH DISCUSSION - Round 4

Best quote overheard leaving the ground..

"I loved it when it started raining and they started going in HARD"

Also headed in by myself today. Cheers to the two fellas next to me, champions.

So, can we sneak a win from the next three?

All three are at the G which is something

Freo - probably not

Sydney - probably not

Hawthorn - no

I feel Michie had a big part in the game turning. 19 disposals in a half.

Amazing how much difference it makes when you bring blokes in because they're in form, not because you are dropping people and someone has to come up.

Massive, he was everywhere. Hogan what a champ.

Brayshaw a tackling beast, a natural footballer, love him.

Ok, which Demonland poster was the guy taking his shirt off on the TV?

Nasher?

Great win, But what is it with the umps? Was there that many more Richmond supporters there than Demons?

BBO?

Best win for a very long time because it wasn't a) a fluke or b) against easy-beats.

Who is the genius who dug up vandenBerg from obscurity? Needs a medal.

A big bodied tackling machine with skills. I feel really sorry for the likes of Jordie McK who is all heart, and has stuck through the very dark years but will really struggle to get a run.

Cheers to the 4 Richmond supporters giving me [censored] during the first half.

Your stony silence in the second half was a thing of beauty.

The other side of that coin probably is that he's had a few more years on contract than he possibly should have.

Agree though he is a ripper bloke.

Salem

Brayshaw

Hogan

Michie

What a great bunch of young heroes coming through.

And that's without Viney, Kent, Petracca etc.

I hate what happened to Petracca,

but what a pick up in Aaron Vandenberg :)

Hogan best start for a key forward?first he has to kick 77 goals in 12 games, that's the best start to a key forward

But he will get better and hopefully have a longer career.

Viv Michie showing why I had him in my Round 1 best 22 , the guy can seriously play. Ball magnet and an absolute bull at the contest with nice disposal

and VanDemonberg is amazing

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.

  • POSTGAME: Western Bulldogs

The Demons lacked some polish but showed a lot of heart and took it right up to the Bulldogs in an attempt to spoil their finals hopes ultimately going down by a goal at the MCG.
