Agreed, we are more exciting without the 3rd tall in the forward line = more speed, pressure & ability to run out games (if dawes came in it might be for a Bail, or Matt Jones - even though they are limited, they offer soo much more run).

I'm finding it hard to for Dawes to get back in (especially with all these mids coming back and jetta over the next 2 weeks). If pederson has one or more poor games then he may be a chance (and then i wonder if Gawn would offer more than Dawes - can mark, can kick goals, in form, but no forward line pressure [especially when outnumbered]).

Furthermore, could we play a forward line with Hogan only? watts as second tall, and then leave Garlett, Kent (when back) and say a JKH or somewone else at hogans feet - that excites me haha. Only problem is the back-up ruck - fitzy if in the backline perhaps.

In-fact we did play this way on the weekend when spencer had a rest, Pederson was in the ruck and it was just Hogan forward.. Hogan+Garlett forwards then insert 4 midfielders around them as our forward six haha!

Who knows what will happen, but don't change it if it isn't broken please

i wouldnt have thought so. We now appear to have Watts n it looks like Howe back in the forwardline which i think is where they both play their best footy. He may have to reinvent himself as the pinch hitting ruckman/ forward role which he aparently loathed,to have any chance of getting a game. His form has been average for quite a while now!

I really liked the structural set-up we had back in round one: Hogan and Frost as two falls, Watts as the 'tweener', and Garlett, Kent and JKH as smalls who buzzed around the big boys feet and pushed up to the flanks and wings as necessary. When Dawes came in for round two, I was worried we were going too tall, and I think that GWS game bore me out.

Last weekend's side was essentially the round one structure again, just with a few like-for-like(ish) replacements: Pedo = Frost, Bail & Jones = Kent & JKH … and lo and behold, we functioned well and got a nice big score on the board.

So for my money, we *MUST* keep that structure. And therefore Dawes has to play at Casey, find form, and wait for a chance to take his place off Hogan (when he needs a rest) or Pedo (if his form drops away).

After what happened with the selection, structure, and results in rounds one and two, I'd be pretty annoyed if we made the same mistake again in rounds eight and nine.

It's just confidence, Jesse has struggled in a couple of games to hold some marks (although he makes up for it in other ways) Dawes just needs to know he has to work harder if he wants to play alongside Jesse, I reckon he will pull his finger out at some point.

What are his runs?? Seriously when have you sat back after a game and thought jeez Dawes made a huge impact for us today. And don't give me the Adelaide game. Few cheap goals and thats it.

Im sure he is a good bloke but he is as useless as a [censored] on a stick. He had a full pre season and yet he has NOT played one good game at all. He needs to spend the next 4 weeks and Casey and learn how to mark a footy like Pedo.

C'mon dude. I've been one of the most staunch Dawes supporters on here, but even i am happy to admit at this current point in time The Pedo outshines him in every area bar probably vocal leadership.

It is up to Dawes to rectify that. If not, then we persist with The Pedo, as his form has been excellent and he bloody deserves it.

But the fact he's not getting it kicked to him was a symptom of how poor he was playing. Hogan and now Pedo have proved they're a much bigger threat. Dawes should have to show some exceptional form in the 2s if he wants to get another look

The scope for improvement in one player is not matched by the other.

The only place Dawes can regain form is in the VFL. If he's brought back in at the expense of Pedo it would be a great injustice.

One is a premiership player playing with a calf injury, the other couldn't get a game till two weeks ago and has performed well for 2 weeks. lets keep this in perspective. Pederson is about the slowest bloke on our list as well.

And still seems to be carrying a few Kg's too many, so if he gets a more regular spot (e.g. Dawes's) and then has a great year and pre-season would appear to have more scope for improvement..
