Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Are we seeing Geelongs culture crumbling?

After the latest Steven Motlop saga it seems there could be a few cracks falling through.

Josh Caddy robbery prank.

Billy Smedts driving selfie photo.

Dawson Simpson Drink driving.

Allen Christensen off field issues that resulted in seeking a trade.

Brad Hartman taking personal leave.

Recruiting Mitch Clark.

Personally i think their great dynasty is over. Their young players are a real worry as they don't seem ready to step up. Im talking about Caddy, Smedts, Horlin Smith, Walker, Simpson.

Their older players are slowing down. Bartel, Johnson,Lonergan, Stokes, Enright, McIntosh,Rivers all looked cooked and slow..

I can see us overtaking them within the near future.

To the contrary, I think we are seeing just how strong their culture is... you screw up and you get dropped, regardless of how important the upcoming game is.

Agree I'm not sold on their young core, the fact they are still relying on the old boys is a worry

But I don't see the issues as being cultural, just not sold on their recruiting and development in recent years.

Personally il take great pleasure in seeing them fail in every way.

Still haven't forgotten James Kellys snooze stunt in their team song after they beat us one year.

Let's not count our chickens just yet. Geelong have had 'incidents' for many years. Remember Stevie J getting a boot up the rrse in 2007(?) for f'ing up just before their run of flags? Was exactly what he needed.

That Geelong can show the balls to discipline one of their better players speaks volumes.

They will be top four this year while we will probably still be bottom four. Reality bus (urghh...)

Maybe. Too early perhaps. I have them in my top 4. If you think we will overtake them in the near future then I think you may be underestimating their list and over inflating ours. I think their culture is very strong and experienced. Sorry to rain on your parade Dazz. We differ in opinion this time.

We are seeing the dynasty fall, there is no doubt about that.

If you don't replace great coaches with quality replacements, then the standards drop.

This culture problem Geelong appear to have - is just a formality.

Geelong build a dynasty around culture, now we are seeing a drop in standards - and a drop in professionalism.

That's rubbish Ding a Ling. Stop making crap up, use balance and reason (er... I just realised this is an online forum, so forget that bit). So you are saying Bomber was a great coach and Scott is not? I fear your rash judgment will come back to haunt you at the end of the season.

What isn't reasonable about that? Bomber has a proven track record, he built that list from the ground up, he is a known culture builder - and has the points on the board.

Chris Scott didn't win a flag because he is a good coach, he won a flag because Bomber Thompson had set up a good foundation, good culture, great structure and framework. IMO, now we are seeing that fall apart. When a great culture builder leaves a club, I don't think you can just replace him with a run on the mill coach. The MFC handover progression - of Roos/Goodwin - is a testament to this, more so, how important it is that the next coach is on top of everything. Since Thompson has left Geelong we have seen a raft of undisciplined acts by Geelong players, this wouldn't of happened under Bombers watch.

Reported that the Hawks were sledging Clark about his "issues."

Horrible if true, and I love it.

issues ??,

Really ??

I assume it was about his issues, I doubt it was about his inability to chase or his [censored] tattoos.

Barrett never stated it was about depression, he waited for the panel to draw this conclusion and sat back with a smug grin. He'd love the chance to victimise Clark and rub salt in the wound he cut through the MFC.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
