Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Just watched the reply again

Kent doesn't deserve to be dropped

JKH doesn't deserve to be dfopped

Frost doesn't deserve to be dropped

Angus doesn't deserve to be dropped

I'm expecting Kent to be given the job on Shaw.

You're right about JKH. He will rarely have high possession games, but what he does with it will generally be high quality. Just have to look at his positioning when the ball comes in to know he'll win games for us in the future.

Just rang the oval Frosty (not the one in London). Fellow reckoned seats at the gate will be available - also expects good weather.

Current forecast is partly cloudy, light winds and a max of 22. Sounds about perfect.

It will probably cool off pretty quickly as the shadows lengthen.

No probs with the temp.at Manuka ......... the result will ensure that we Demonlanders have a warm inner glow.

I have booked tickets with 2 other mad Demon supporters, as Manuka is a small ground for numbers. And as a regular visitor to Canberra, there is not much else to do there on the weekends, so if the weather is good a reasonable crowd will turn up.

I got an email from ticketek with the following information, which may be helpful to BBO and Frosty and anyone else driving.....there are road closures and parking limitations around CB and the ground:

COLLECT YOUR TICKETS IN ADVANCE AND AVOID THE QUEUES

We recommend picking up your tickets before you head to StarTrack Oval. See the list below for the Ticketek outlet closest to you. If you do decide to collect your tickets at the venue, be sure to arrive early. All bags will be searched upon entry, so arrive early to avoid delays.

ACTION buses are providing free shuttle services to and from Civic and Woden for ticket holders for the GIANTS Vs. Melbourne Demons game on Saturday 11 April 2015. In addition, ticket holders can travel on any ACTION bus across the entire network on the day for free. For more details go to www.action.act.gov.au<http://www.action.act.gov.au

If you are driving, some general road closures and managed access arrangements for residents will apply in the StarTrack Oval precinct on the day. Parking officers will be active in the area during the event and drivers are reminded to park legally. To view parking maps, road closure and event information visit www.manukaoval.com.au<http://www.manukaoval.com.au

Due to the 2015 Australian Running Festival there will be additional road closures in the StarTrack Oval area. Please visit the following link for more information: TAMS These closures should be disbanded by 10:30am.

Accessible Parking

Patrons are reminded that StarTrack Oval has no formal car parking; however, the venue makes accessible parking available at the adjacent Manuka Pool. In addition, all ACTION shuttle services to Manuka Oval for the GIANTS vs. Melbourne Demons game are wheelchair accessible.

Gates open 12:30 and match commences at 2:10pm

Finally I contacted the Canberra Demons.....there is no official or unofficial get together after the match, but most local supporters head to the Eastlake Footy club for drinkies etc. Is about 300m from the ground and is at 3 Oxley st Griffith......

hope to see you there.....

Yeah but the Kingo (Kingston Hotel) is a good 50m closer to the ground!

In agreement with the 'land near concensus in the end. They just make sense.

It's good when at least one of the outs come with a very heavy heart (both for mine), and it's not because they've done a career ending injury.

This team will make for an interesting tactical battle for the coaching staff. To be honest, I thought the team last week had a slightly better balance and flexibility. While the selections of Dawes and Vince were obvious, I think we would have been better off retaining JKH and looking at either VDB or Frost to step back. Having said that, I do like the look of the forward lineup. Dawes playing out of the goal mouth with Hogan and Watts both very mobile talls/big and then Kent and Garlett at ground level looks like a good setup. Frost to relieve in the ruck and to rest, along with Jamar up forward at times gives a bit of a matchup nightmare for GWS. Frost could also slot in down back for a time if required and maybe release Howe forward to give him a taste back at the pointy end.

Frost into the forwards for a bit and Hogan on to a wing or into the center for a run? That might be interesting. He apparently has the tank for it and who would run with him?

By my count we have 13 or 14 players that could rotate through the midfield so we should have plenty of run there and some delivery into the forward line.

I will be getting up early (my time) to watch.

I did predict a Dees win last week, but only by a goal. This week I am going to give it to the Dees by 3 goals. Watts BOG.

posted by Sir Paul Roos in the locked changes thread

Fox panel thinks our forward line will be top heavy now, and fiddling with our forward line after that win may be a mistake.

Yes its going to be very interesting but Ill stick with the motto 'In Roos we trust'

We will miss JKH's creativity and speed though

tom will take cameron as he can keep up with him and match him in the air, be interesting to see who viney gets this week.

By the way the weather is meant to be 22 and sunny, so perfect day. I will be disappointed if we cant come home with the win. We have bolstered our team and need to back up after last weeks great performance.

Im making the trip up and I hope we out number the gws fans. It shouldnt be to hard. Make some noise for the boys.

Hopefully the changes don't throw out the balance of the forward line from last week. I'm not that sold on Dawes inclusion, but I'll be happy to be wrong if we win on Saturday.

They have been working solidly all pre season on the running patterns when both are in the forward line, shouldn't be a problem.

Being top heavy is rubbish, Frost, Hogan, Vandenberg, Watts and Dawes are all big and agile, Garlett must be licking his lips

Think it was said earlier, but the idea of being too top heavy seems instead to be by design by Roos and Co. Creates some serious match up problems for the GWS back line, if we can get some decent delivery then we should see a lot of marks inside 50.

I'm backing our defenders to match up well on GWS, though there are obvious threats. Think McDonald definitely takes Cameron, Dunn will smash McCarthy and get right up his nose. Jetta to take Kelly, though I wouldn't mind him seeing him run a bit free and pick up Treloar or Greene. Worried about Treloar, what a gun.

This game will be won in the midfield, Jamar needs to have a blinder. As does Tyson and Vince needs to impact from the first minute. Think Viney needs to run a bit freer, just get him to put pressure round the ball at every stoppage. Can't allow them easy clearances.

That midfield makes me sick.

Treloar (gun), Kelly, Whitfield Shiel and Coniglio, Ward and Griffen as well.

I would stick Viney with Treloar. Cross with Ward.

Will have to go head to head with the rest.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
