Brett Anderson who generally gets pretty good mail tweeted earlier that Carlton & Richmond lead the race to obtain Prestia...

On the back of stronger offers from Carlton and Richmond.

I think the only reason the media is writing us off for prestia is because we don't have a 1st round pick, if prestia chooses us in sure next years 1st rounder and a player should get the job done, Gold Coast already have 2 1st round picks this year they might be happy to spread there picks over a couple of years, and next years draft is already being talked up as a ripper, so if he choose us a deal will get done

He also went went on to say that it was just a hunch. I think there's a fair bit of guess work going on at this stage.

Apparently he has a direct line to Mrs Prestia's mum.  She has the goss.

I agree with this. If Dion decides Melbourne is his choice of destination, we can get the deal done. We already have a young, gun midfield so if Carlton and Richmond lead the race, so be it. That's footy.

P.S. Please join Dion <3

His Time on Ground last season was 69%. If you take out Rounds 2 and 3 when he was sub and played only 30%, and the game he was injured early and played 2%, he would be closer to 80% for the year which seems pretty high for a first year mid, not sure of the league averages though.

Thanks for that. It was more on relation to his "disposals per minute" when the previous poster mentioned his average over his career.

Another reason is that maybe we're not in the race because we don't want to be.

Prestia might not be a priority or even on the radar.

These constant knee issues don't exactly fill me with confidence. Do we sell the farm for a bloke who will struggle to get on the park? Not sure we can take that sort of risk right now.

Prestia out for the rest of the year with a knee injury requiring surgery. He has been carrying the injury all year. Either his price just went down or it is a no from me.

He is 23 and coming into his peak.  You would take him in a heartbeat.  He is walk up start and will instantly make us a better side.

Thats exactly why we won't sell the farm.

He is a walk up start if he can walk. How much time has he missed with bad knees? That is my only concern, getting a bloke in to do a Dawes and be perennially in the rehab group.

And probably why we won't get him in the end.  With his constant knee issues he'll probably look for the longest and most financially secure contract that is on the table.  I'm not sold that it will be us that will provide it.

So would I.... if he didn't have these constant knee issues.  If he had of been able to play out the season and show further proof that he's shaken off those knee problems then I'd be feeling far more positive about him.  Now?  Not so much.

Checking the stats and I notice Dion Prestia has had 0 hitouts in his 95 game career.  Thought that was odd, so I looked up Gary Abletts stats out of curiosity.

288 games, zero hitouts!  How is that even possible?  Think of the thousands of stoppages he has been at over his career, and not once has he had a hitout even out of necessity. Amazing really.

SHOCKING!!!!!

Sounds like Brad Couch is absolutely in the game for the Vic clubs so that makes things very interesting.

Don't underestimate a desperate Richmond. This is the same club that chased a coked up Ben Cousins to drag fans through the turns.

If they want Prestia they will get him.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
