Interesting using Frost as a forward! How good would it be if he became our Mitch Clark replacement! Then we would need to fast track young O. McDonald to take over Chip's role.

To be fair, Mich Clark's skillset is far superior to Frost's. Looks like Frost is the preferred option as a 3rd tall/pinch hit ruckman, ahead of Pedersen.

TBO, if Frost can be competitive in the ruck, I'd rather he plays than Gawn. His defensive pressure alone contributes more than what Gawn does as a forward.

It's probably a fair point, but I just don't know if he presents as a forward too well at the moment while he appears to offer some run in defense. I suppose the coaching staff would say that we don't need him in defense, but there is a hole in attack.

I agree on Clark and it is a disgrace that he left us at the start of last season. Maybe there is a role for both Frost and Gawn on occasions when there is need for a third tall down back (Frost)? On balance however, Frost is the preferred option both ends and it would be nice to have the third tall forward structure that we originally looked forward to so much at the start of last season!

Not another beat up Saty thread derailment. His tone and obvious pride of his interactions with players etc may grate some, but he provides useful information. If his manner annoys you guys more than you value his information, please just ignore him. If you like the information, then ignore what annoys you. Posters are not going to change him by endlessly beating him up in these threads.

Well said. Getting pretty pathetic how every thread turns into this. You know what to expect from him, if you don't like it, don't read it, or get to training amd start your own training threads instead of wrecking demonland for others.

Thanks saty for your Input. I've been in new Zealand for 3 months and your input has been great and highly appreciated. Will be hoping to see some form from the secondary mids this week like michie, bail etc to get some confidence against a drug depleted dons team

I love Frost's dash out of the backline. The chase down last week and the run in the Freo game were a great point of difference for our side.

We were treated to two good dashes last week! One from Frost and one from McDonald!

I actually did once when he was a Dee, if you do it respectfully they don't mind, Dom Tyson asked my opinion of his game against Freo, told him his disposal was a bit ordinary and he agreed, said today he is still working on the timing, same with Jeff Garlett who agreed he couldn't get near the ball against Freo, contrary to poplular belief, they are not up themselves

fair enough mate. you're a braver man than I am

I've just spent 10 minutes truncating this thread so that it looks and feels like a training report rather than a grade 4 school yard fight.

Done my best and hope nobody minds.

Damn it, that's the only part of training threads I enjoy.

I spoke to Bernie, he is ready to go, they just want another weeks training into him now, expecting to play with Casey next week, the way it is going, might be worth going to watch

Just to clarify, do you mean "next week" as in 10 days time, or this coming weekend?

Did Watts train with the main group?

So our top 5 draft picks from the 2014 draft won't play a single Nab Challenge game between them.

This is a very different list.

It's a brilliant indicator of the new regime

As for Frost, has a great leap, is athletic and speed to burn, is young, make him a versatile tall, talls take time, if we can have one that can play both ends and ruck, yes please

Don't think he is big enough for Ruck and wouldn't want to kill him. He could be a talent for us.

And a very different Coaching Panel.

I see Kent will miss his 2nd NAB game. Looking like he won't play round 1?

He didn't perform too badly in NAB 1, so with a game at Casey next week, he may be ready to come into the side for round 1... even if as the sub.

I love how there are not many changes to the NAB cup squad. Mostly mature players with developed bodies, really sends a message that you have to have some pretty good consistent performances to break into the team , and that we want to be ready round one to field a strong bodied experienced side against the youngish Suns.

Think he has to get thru next weeks training

Spoke about the Pig Dog before, has not done enough training, similar to Terlich, will both probably start at Casey in one of the later praccy games

It isn't me that keeps calling him out at training Redleg, it's Greg Stafford

As for Watts, as he left, got a big smile and two thumbs up, so assume mind and body are ready to go

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
