Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

If he pissfarts around in the first six or so rounds with or without excuses and still fobs off re-signing then I am going to make up my mind pretty quickly of his likely intentions.

GWS will only release who they want to release - they f*uckd up with Dom and I'll be eternally grateful.

The 'pact' boys aren't going anywhere....Shiel, Treloar, Greene, now Cameron, Bugg, Conilio, Hoskin-Elliott, (sp?)Tomlinson and Treloar.

The word is that Treloar wants out though 'jumbo'. Your mail has been good but how strong is it on him?

The actual world within which AFL exits is starting to align itself more with how Ive viewed the game for a long long while. Players are just that. Theyll come, theyll go. I invest little in them. I love the club>I want to see the team prosper and dont really care who wears the guernsey as long as they do it proudly and give there all as is the deal they agree to.

The players movements will become even more fluid in time.

its upon this that I then judge a players use to us.

I dont want any more Frawleys etc.. no more Judas's.

I dont care if Howe goes....and if he stays he needs to pick his socks up.

Hes had some good games and a lot more very average ones.

if hes worth more as a commodity why hesitate.

Has it really come to this?

It is a sad indictment on the game when players are mere commodities. I blame this on one of our own, I think the great Ron Barassi started the slippery slope.

But if that is the new world we have to get better at it. What am I offered for this low mileage high flying crowd pleaser? Do I hear first pick and a player.... Maybe live player auctions on Foxtel. I would watch that.

if Melbourne didn't pluck him from some obscure Tasmanian club theres every chance he wouldn't have ever been drafted at all and would till be playing in Tassie

He owes the club big time

The AFLPA are driving this very agenda surely. They want their freedom etc . its all just a business in the main. Sure, we see it ( and literally so ) as a game, of teams, but who comprises them, well, its becoming more of a merry go round each season now.

Jumbo, how can they possibly hang onto them all through? they have paid Scully, Davis and Ward a fortune, now they have signed Cameron to another mega deal and have signed Smith.

That leaves Sheil, Treloar, Greene, Bugg, Conilio, Hoskin-Elliot and Tomlinson......thats some quality players who would like their bite at the cherry, they may of made a pact in their first contracts but the boys (probably more their managers) will be seeking a major payrise. If they can keep them, well played, i honestly cannot see it though.

Footy is lies.

And so are my emotions.

I am stoked that Dawes, Tyson, Frost, Newton, Garlett and Michie decided to depart their rather poxy clubs to come play for our great team. Good, strong, sensible decisions.

And then there are the Scullys, Clarks (his last change of club not the one before that) and Frawleys of this world who are obviously moral-less, bottom dwelling scum suckers

Now there is Howe who

a) I will cerebrally justify is a one trick hack who we may rort a first rounder for or

B) may legitimately explore his options before loyally resigning with the club that plucked him from obscurity

Player movements will become more common. The only way to beat it is to win more trades than you lose. In the last couple of seasons I think we have done this handsomely.

Dunno BD - perhaps it's the lure of a historic flag together.

They will win one....eventually.

I honestly believe a major factor in his decision will be whether we play him forward or back. I'm certainly no body language expert but I think he didn't enjoy playing down back last year.

It's funny you mention that though - prior to going back he had a pretty lacklustre year up forward, and for his development Roos saw fit to send him back and as the season progressed he got better and better. It's a courageous man to argue a decision Roos would make in a players development, but it would be pretty poor if that was the reason.

Crows think danger is gone. Should have taken pick 2...

Unless Danger didn't want to come to us in the first place. The bloke is Geelong bound IMO. Plenty of ties to the area and they can probably just offer him enough coin to entice him over.

Agree, you don't offer Jeremy Cameron 8 mil over 7 years unless you are pretty certain Danger is gone imo, i think he will end up at Geelong, but no doubt our monster deal we offered him last year would still be on the table, i was of the opinion that Danger was happy to come to us, the crows were the ones who wanted to back themselves to keep him, massive fail at this stage.

I agree that it was great for the team for him to be sent back as he couldn't get in the game when playing forward, and i don't think he'd argue the point with Roos either.

But, if a team approached him with the right $ amount and the promise of remaining up forward I think he'd want to take it.

alot of Vic teams can offer Danger good money, and i think Geelong will need to pay good dollars to retain Hawkins

People say Howe may be a 'one trick pony' but I think contested marking is one of the most important tricks in football at present.

He's a massive point of difference in any team and I'd love to see him up forward now with a fit Hogan, Dawes and a resting ruckman. No longer will teams simply be able to zone off to cut his leap off.

Would also rather him playing down back over Grimes at present.

Blokes like Danger will be sorely tempted to come to us if we can crack at least 8 wins for the season. Not only will it indicate we are on the way up but also able to pay well for his services.

Said like it is but supporters find it is hard to tolerate players that are put on high pedestals dragging their arses for a whole season or having excuses why they cannot even play to then confirm all the rumours at end of season. As far as I am concerned Gary Ablett has set the bench mark for acceptable departure. He played some of his best ever footy as a parting gift before he left the cats. Not surprising he received a standing ovation on his return back to Kardinia Park with the Suns. Edited by america de cali

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the
