Pies topple o'meara/Prestia(or pick 3) deal by tickling Howes balls in Bali?

Very clever. They too expressed interest and maybe caught wind of the specifics.

spoken so eloquently :)

Doesn't fill me with confidence that Ben Kennedy is from Adelaide and the two Adelaide clubs would prefer Toumpas and Paul flash in the pan Seedsman rather than lure Kennedy back home.

If we are getting in 2nd rounders to trade to GWS for pick 8 it will be genius. We should get ourselves in a decent position pick wise if we are trading out both Howe an Toumpas. Lets see what evolves

If we can somehow manage to turn Howe, Toumpas, and a 4th Rounder into Kennedy and Pick 8, That is a dream result really

Would someone who understands the academy points system please figure out what some possible combinations of 26, 28, and 29 equate to? Those are the second rounders currently held by the teams rumoured to be involved.

I would love for players to come out and explain their reasons for choosing which clubs they choose and why BEFORE they are traded. A bit of honesty for the supporters wouldn't go astray. I'm sick of the player manager's trotting out the usual crap as to why their client should and would be traded to their club of choice. No-one except the player, manager and clubs really know. It might help supporters understand reasons why their "idols" want to up and leave.

I think you know why. Bad results, uncertain future, bad timeslots, small crowds, no respect.

In summary they have managed to trade Howe and in return gain a VFL standard dwarf,....seems about business as normal, screwed again.

Wasn't it Howe and Toumpas for a change of pics and a VFL standard dwarf?

just figured it out, no combination of picks 26 (Coll), 28 (Ade), or 29 (PA) equates to more points than pick 8. Shame

EDIT: Pick 6 & 26 does equate to more than Pick 3 however.

I'm after the glory of taking speccies in front of 50,000+ instead of 15,000 - Jeremy Howe

Why would we want picks? It goes against what Mahoney said we were chasing. So much for getting quality players 21 + . I can't help but feel we are getting shortchanged and treated with disrespect by other clubs.

Just out of curiosity, outside of Dangerfield and Treloar, who were these quality 21+ year old players we were going to land?

Kennedy for Toumpas.

Melksham and a 3rd round pick for Howe.

I'd settle for that.

We need to get a 2nd and 3rd rounder for Howe. It's possible, but will take some negotiation.

Maybe he is a sensible chap and does not want to return to Adelaide!

Jason Taylor has hardly put a foot wrong with his 2 drafts. He was Derek Hine's deputy when the Pies picked Kennedy. That could be a factor, going to a club where you know a key figure in the footy department believes in you.

That said it would not be Taylor's decision alone. It'd be a considered decision after an exhaustive footy dept process. he does have pace which we lack, is a penetrating kick and smart around goals.

It's like a dork who goes to a nightclub expecting to score a supermodel. In the end he settles for what's in his hand. That's our lot at the moment.

This is my flavour of thought. I do like it.......however

Alas I dont know we'd 1) do it ...or 2) that it would have desired result

Bit of a game of blink though.

The rub to it al ls how quickly do we need this to move in order to do other deals ?

What other deals would they be MFC dont appear to have a plan B

Thought this was interesting from the HUN today. I reckon his manager has done him a disservice:

"Reports earlier in the year that he was demanding $650,000 a year were dismissed by his manager Ben Niall, but the Demons still believed Niall floated that amount.

To make it worse, Howe said he wanted to stay; Niall said his client was open to offers, which angered the Demons; and offers put to Howe by the Demons eventually were withdrawn.

In the end, for whatever reason, the Demons didn’t want to keep him."

Exactly MFC dont seem to have a plan If they do can some one illuminate it?

We hold more than that. Toumpas apparently wants out as well and, if the Dixon deal goes through as PA want, they'll hand over their second rounder for him. That's just one example.

I don't know why there is this belief that there was no other demand for Melksham - how do you Einstein's know that? Were you all behind the scenes doing the negotiating? Is someone his manager's brother?

AHHHHHH no body offered him better than 4 years and $400 grand right?

People are drastically undervaluing Howe here. Have a look at the trades that have gone through so far. It's clear that nobody rates this year's draft. North Melbourne just gave up their first round pick for a 21 year old who's played 10 games. Howe is a 100 game player with multiple clubs chasing him. If the Pies want him they can give us a first round pick. It's that simple. None of this rubbish of the club bending over backwards putting together a five club trade to net a bundle of second and third round selections. In this year, with this draft, he is worth the Pies' first round pick and it isn't our problem if they want to use it for someone else. If the Pies won't put up a reasonable offer, we simply tell Howe and his manager that they aren't willing to offer what he's worth and he'll have to go with someone else.

Childish. But then your over the top posts during this trade period should mean your above one comes as no surprise.

You aren't the only one but the amount of people on here who can't see past their noses at this time of the year is astounding. No one automatically wins or loses a trade. When 3-4 years have passed then you can take a good look at it, but to get all worried about now is just silly.

And besides, who knows what we have planned? We might land Kennedy and two second rounders, and we have some good plans in place for those picks. We know that teams are keen to get a GWS pick in the Top 10, and we may well and truly have an eye on that with further plans in place for 2 picks inside the Top 10.

So before you get childish about the situation you should think before you post. You'll do yourself a huge favour.

Wise blood please can you not say "think befotre you post " any more its repeteive and boring and maybe you should take your own advice Ok?

    THE CAVALRY ARRIVES by Megg

The injury plague which has beset the Demons 2024 campaign is finally starting to dissipate and with consecutive wins over GWS Giants and a 2-point nail-biter in Adelade, a sense of optimism is rising.  Some commentators are now asking whether the Dees can make finals? A huge surprise with team selection this week when it was announced that champs Olivia Purcell, Paxy Paxman and Eden Zanker would play.   Hallelujah!  The cavalry has arrived. St Kilda missed the finals last season on pe

    GOLDIE'S METTLE by Meggs

On a perfect night for football at the home of the Redlegs, Norwood Oval, it was the visiting underdogs Melbourne who led all night and hung on to prevail in a 2-point nail-biter. In the previous round St Kilda had made it a tough physical game to help restrict Adelaide from scoring and so Mick Stinear set a similar strategy for his team. To win it would require every player to do their bit on the field plus a little bit of luck.  Fifty game milestoner Sinead Goldrick epitomised

    REDLEG PRIDE by Meggs

Hump day mid-week footy at the Redlegs home ground is a great opportunity to build on our recent improved competitiveness playing in the red and blue.   The jumper has a few other colours this week with the rainbow Pride flag flying this round to celebrate people from all walks of life coming together, being accepted. AFLW has been a benchmark when it comes to inclusivity and a safe workplace.  The team will run out in a specially designed guernsey for this game and also the following week

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.
