FAREWELL JEREMY HOWE

What

Recommended Posts

Well...I for one hope he staysI love the marks he takes....It's one of the reasons I watch.I love the goals he kicks from the boundary line.

Do you also love his sub-10 disposal games and one way running?

Seriously sometimes I think some of our supporters don't want the club to be successful. Much more important to be a nice club than successful.

Unlike some I believe Howe would rather stay, but I suspect the club isn't desperate and will only accommodate him on their terms.

I don't think they see him as a "must sign".

He is the perfect trade bait because other clubs would rate him higher than his actual worth which would allow us to upgrade a spot on our list.

That was nothing more than speculation and the way you've paraphrased his comments is very misleading.

i wrote it in ten seconds. Sorry if it didnt meet your linguistic standards.

Why would others rate him higher? What can't they see what the MFC can? It would have to be some internal issue which would be unknown to demonlanders, but there has been no hint of that.

From reading the article the age today, it sounds like the offers from other clubs are not that great for Jeremy. Maybe he will stay.

I actually get the feeling more and more that he is gone.

You could be right re: the offers though - it is clear we value him differently than he does, but the offers for that aren't forthcoming which leave him in limbo a little.

I also got out of the interview that Howe hasn't been happy playing down back and sees himself as a forward. I don't agree with that - his games up forward this year were games he went missing in, where as down back he was able to impact games more often.

I think the moment the right offer comes in he will accept it quickly and go. It's just getting another club to bite that seems to be the tricky part the minute.

I get that feeling too sometimes. We are clearly on the way up, will pay him a fair deal and he is playing regularly. Pretty poor for him to be looking to find a way out.

It's a business and players have a short time in the game so he's quite entitled to go for the money. By the same token the club is also entitled to look to leverage the situation to one that enables list improvement so all's fair in love, war and footy trading.

I don't think he's worth more than 400k and if someone wants to pay more, they are welcome to him. It won't be stupid money he is offered so at the end of the day he'd be leaving to play in his preferred position and only a little more coin in the pocket.

I watched Jeremy against GWS. I was sitting close to the boundary on the forward pocket where ran forward and one of our players running down the wing just lobs the ball in the air to his advantage. Howe goes up vertically, takes the mark and the defender had no hope. He kicks the goal in front of me and I think why couldn't that scenario happen three times a game? All Howe has to do is start running to space and our mids lob the ball high, very few defenders can spoil when he leaps. I still believe he could be a very productive wing/half forward in a team with a competitive midfield.

Howe likes the limelight...he likes the speccies...he likes the adulation from kicking a goal.

His time at the Dees is over. Yes..its not so much about the doleros as it is the the lux !!

I'm puzzled that anyone here would want to keep him after the way Frawley and his manager played us last year. Would anyone give up Brayshaw now to get Chip back?

You've got a player repeatedly claiming he loves the club and wants to stay but, nearly a fortnight after our 7th win, is shopping himself around. His manager is giving the club a clip over the ears that his client is unhappy about being played out of position. Sorry, must have missed the memo where players now dictate to premiership coaches where they should be playing. Oh, and not to mention pearlers like the "unhappiness factor" of being at a club that loses a lot. Yeah, I think we can all see exactly how much competitive resolve Jeremy Howe possesses.

Jeremy, you wanna play forward? For starters, you need to kick more goals than behinds, and, as much as you wish they did, your speccies don't make a lick of difference to the scoreline.

What this club desperately needs is players prepared to work their ass off without expecting others to do the job for them. Players that don't send their managers into radio interviews citing a "lack of clarity about the long-term likelihood of success" as reasons for unsurety of commitment. You clearly have neither the resolve nor work ethic required to earn your plaudits and this needs to be the bare minimum that we, as MFC supporters, not only expect but demand.
I've seen more than enough of exorbitantly paid players expecting others to do the hard work for them; the sooner we see the back of players like Howe the closer to success we become.

Because he shows glimpses of good things on occasion he just lacks consistency and application. Other clubs will back themselves to "get the most out of him" when in fact I think what we see is already his best.

This could go two ways - either they give us fair compo in a trade and do get the best out of him in which case it's a win/win or they overpay anf he remains the same inconsistent one way runner elsewhere in which case we win. Either way we're better off without him.

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w
