Any chance this game will be on tv?

Maybe In Perth, the Eagles are Royalty over here and anything to do with them is always on TV.

Josh McGuiness is about the least indigenous sounding name that I've ever heard.

My sons have a Japanese mother and a European family name... doesn't take away any of their "Japanese-ness" :)

What about the name Krakouer? For the record, they are also listed as Jewish footballers because the original Krakouer was Jewish, originally from Krakow in Poland, hence the name, who went to England, got arrested and sent as a convict to WA. True story.

Fair point. Does anyone know what the qualifications are for playing in this match? i.e. one indigenous parent, one indigenous grandparent, etc? Just curious...

Herald Sun: The Krakouer brothers were born to Eric and Phoebe in Mt Barker, 350km south of Perth.

They are descended from an English-Polish Jewish convict named Theodore Krakouer, who married a Noongar woman.

They were raised on a reserve without electricity and where disease was rife (two of Jim and Phil's siblings died young).

Beau Waters retired when he heard Nev Jetta made the squad. The Eagles also asked MFC if they could borrow our training bubbles when they heard the news.

Apparently was not available. Wants to concentrate on having the maximum impact on the field for the Dees.

Not surprised he wasn't picked at all.

I think he is going to be a great pick up for us.

I am convinced that by the end of last season he wanted to be out of Carlton.

But his form last year hardly warranted him being picked for this game.

The only interest I have in this game is that neither of the MFC players get injured.

The rest Yawn......

I'm the same.

It's footy when there's not much else happening footy-wise... I'll always be interested :-)

The AFL and the media hype this game up as a special event but don't even bother televising it. Plus Buddy and Goodes always pull out due to 'injury'. What a joke.

That being said, hope Jetta and JKH have a good hit out.

I hope you get the opportunity some time this year to tell the two guys playing tonight how you feel. I'm sure they'll appreciate your honesty.

Are you suggesting that we have to adore everything the AFL dishes up LL?

It is a practice match by two groups I have little interest in.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
