Who is shaping as a surprise packet for Melbourne in 2015?

guess we will find out soon enough, but yes, i'd expect hogan to spend some time at chf. but mostly at ff

Think he will probably rotate a bit 'daisy', one of his assets is his running so I can see him getting up the ground as he did a Casey. They won't let him get pinned down.

obviously not, can you please justify your absurd, idiotic comment so that all of us poor readers can understand where you are coming from, thanks.

I think it's pretty clear, Jones is easily Melbourne's best player and any surprise packets will need to step up a long way to have an impact for Melbourne.

I just watched the training footage on the Melbourne website and whilst it only goes for a couple of minutes Jones is clearly on another level compared to most players. Any surprise packets will need to step up a long way to have an impact for Melbourne.

It's funny you say that because it is the exact thing I thought when watching training about a month ago.

The only other players close to Jones were Tyson and Lumumba with ability to win the footy, keep the footy, and have a sixth sense about what to do with the footy let alone pull off what they wanted to do with it.

If Tyson has a 2015 equal to his 2014 - he will have had a fantastic season so Lumumba will provide the bulk of what is different about us through the middle next year.

Rohan Bail is looking bigger and his running times have been sensational this pre season , he might surprise and go to another level.

Roosy seems to really believe in him.

I think Tyson will close on him this year and take the Bluey...

Didn't see him in the video but have seen him at training, the only thing that will stop him is injury.

I don't need to watch a whole session, furthermore it's not the not first time I've seen Melbourne train and play. I was simply using the video to highlight something I already knew.

Bernie Vince goes alright too.

Surprise packet means someone from left field with no runs on the board for us anyway. So we accept Jones, Tyson, Vince etc and Hogan will not surprise because of expectations.

Based purely on a highlights reel I will go for Bert Newton! He looks like he has a good dose of mongrel and some ability, a good mix.

Based on that it would be nice to see Petracca or Brayshaw win the rising star award.

I think Petracca will get some considerable game time this year and prove to be one of the players who really supplies Hogan and Dawes with a lot of goal chances.

Or JKH, NB, Viney or Stretch.

I reckon Kent is going to go well - I've watched about 10 of the replays over the off season and the kid can be freakish at times.. thus far he has an issue with getting his hands on it but when he does he generally uses it very well. He could well become a full-time midfielder in the upcoming seasons IMO

    GAMEDAY: Rd 16 vs Brisbane

It's Game Day and the Dees are deep in the heart of enemy territory as they take on the Lions in Brisbane under the Friday Night Lights at the Gabba. Will the Demon finally be awakened and the season get back on track or will they meekly be sacrificed like lambs to the slaughter?

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.
