I reckon he's a fair chance to be on a list in 2017, given that he's contracted until then.

As is Terlich and M Jones (the being contracted part)

JKH was captain and will struggle to be on a list in 2017.

What is your point? There are always going to be U/18 captains that don't make it, but generally speaking it's always a big tick to recruiters if they have been selected to lead a squad.

And for the record I think JKH will be on the list for a long period of time.

I agree with Shifter's views from the draft camp - Aaron Francis would be a great pick up this year if he drops to us at 6.

He's not a left footer, but an excellent kick nonetheless and an excellent fit next to the Hulk - He looks like a much more talented and physically gifted version of Tom Lynch from the Crows.

There's an interesting article on who to look out for at the draft combine on the AFL website. Some interesting information to be taken away.

First thing I've noted is that the 20m sprint has virtually no relevance in determining if someone can play. Of the top performers only Danyle Pearce and Jack Watts have done anything.

Actually, if you look at the physical testing, about the only one that seems to be indicative of good potential players is Agility. If you look at the top performers in the others, a lot of them have never done anything noteworthy.

Still, they note a bunch of players who appear to test well and are probably worth keeping an eye on to see if they can actually play.

You mean you actually have to play good footy ?

If the Dees love Francis, and clearly I have no clue, they may like the idea of trading Howe to the Suns for the 6 > 3 swap.

If we do that trade, my money would be on Francis. He is athletic and versatile, has a higher ceiling than Parish IMO.

The added bonus of moving up to pick 3 is we might steal the young gun that Essendrug have been drooling over all year

Would love to break their hearts

This. The drooling Hirdites at BigFooty are all in a flurry because they think we're trying to trump their pick 4.

Any chance we could get pick 3 and keep pick 6?

Ie Howe and pick 16 (Watts to Freo) for pick 3...

I can tell you that the Blues love Francis and hoped the Kreuzer pick would get him. That is now gone.

No chance any club is going to give us a first rounder for Jack Watts

Not sure if anyone else has been watching the Draft Combine special tonight on Fox Footy but geez, that Rioli looks bloody impressive.

They're gushing over quite a few kids, actually. I guess that's all part of the game, but is this draft really as thin as they say? They're calling Parish the best midfielder in the draft that isn't tied to an Academy.

Watching it now.

Not bad viewing to be honest.

Some of the tests they do at the combine now would put our bottom 10 players to shame. Glad to see there's a lot more emphasis on skills under pressure and after fatigue. Going straight from repeat sprints to goalkicking tests, etc.

And geez, Rioli... dayum. And the kid said he wants Hawthorn to draft him? Dees, please interject!

Watched it as well. While Curnow reads like the guy we need and I was taking a like to, I wasn’t very impressed with his kicking technique and style. Looked terrible.

Collins looked a very impressive size.

Those skill tests are pointless time/media fillers. The recruiters already have all the information they need about their skills after watching them play for 2 years. Athletic results are more difficult to get a hold of, which is why the camp exists.

Callum Twomey's post Draft Combine Phantom Form Guide on the AFL website.

I'm still not convinced that we should be shooting for pick 3 and in fact, I'm still more inclined to aim for a trade and a switch of draft picks that sees us with a couple of later but still relatively high picks.

My bet is whoever we take at 10 we will say we're pleased because we would have taken him at 6.

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan.
