Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

2015 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch

I am going by the book the The Draftees - which states if we had the number one pick it would have been hard to choose between McCartin and Heeney with Petracca, Brayshaw and Lever rated behind the pair.

Possibly.

It's also possible that Emma Quayle isn't always told the truth, or that alternatively Dazzle, or most probably both.

Wayne Milera with 17 touches and 3 goals (including the match winner) for Centrals in SANFL finals.

Reckon he'll move into the top 10 on the back of his last couple of senior performances.

Footage of his 3 goals on the weekend here.

Clips of his 5 goal effort for Centrals (3 weeks ago?) and highlights from his games in the Championships are also up for those interested.

I was a big fan of his work at the Champs.

Looks like the type who might relish playing at the feet of Jesse Hogan at some time in the near future.

Has been able to show off more of that side of his game lately. Played more on the flanks and through the midfield for SA and showed very good composure in traffic. Great awareness, great hands.

I reckon both Saints and Dees will be happy with what they got. Both filled needs and I think McCartin will be good for them in the long run. Certainly did some nice things against us at the 'G.

I wouldn't mind us going for one of the talls available this year, but still think Roo's doesn't trust junior kpp's. Wonder if Jesse's form might have changed that thinking.

Reckon we'd be more likely to go with Mathieson ahead of Tucker.

But then again if this Bennell rumor is true, then we wont have a pick that high anyway!

If we keep our pick I think Balic will be around the mark for us. Curnow's late run of form has pushed him up the rankings and probably out of our reach but Balic is the other one to show a real upside.

Would be happy to get him.

This is the first year in many that I've taken zero interest in junior football or the draft.

That said, I'm aware Weitering is a key defender and Schache a key forward. Can Weitering also dominate as a key forward ? Because if he's best suited as a defender I don't understand why Carlton wouldn't pick the forward. I'd always go the forward over the defender.

Weitering was moved to full forward in the Stingrays' final last week and immediately kicked two goals.

That in itself doesn't make him someone who will always dominate as a key forward but his other attributes suggest he is a quality footballer.

And this is a draft in which the experts are saying doesn't have a great deal of high end quality.

I hope someone reminds Carlton and Brisbane to bid for the Academy players!!

WJ...Do you think there is a chance they won't bid for fear they may be left with a midfielder when they really want a KPP?

I haven't read that. But it would make things clear cut.

That's more an indication that I think Schache looks incredibly overrated (think Peter Wright last year, maybe even a poorer version), while Weitering appears to be the second coming of Harry Taylor.

It won't affect us anyway because Gold Coast will certainly bid for both if they don't.

Be funny if Carlton take Schache then. That would make me very happy.

Based on 2014 champs, I rated Ryan Burton top 5 for this year. He is a highly skilled goalkicking forward. Injury has stopped his past 12 months but I would think he is a bargain if MFC grabbed him at pick 25 ish.

If he is top 5, why would we not grab him at pick 8 rather than miss out at 25?

Worth noting that with perhaps 5 academy players in the top 20, those clubs will have to satisfy the AFL's convoluted formulae to find the right balance for these selections. This could result in them deciding the price is too high and eventually passing, or they might have to trade to create the points to get them (correct me please if I have misunderstood how it works). Both outcomes might benefit us.

I lost interest this year, partly because I'm tired of it all, & I think we're in good hands now.

But this year, I wouldn't know a Weitering from a Scache, or from this fella... >>

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
