Great get and a steal!

A teammate of Billy Stretch at Glenelg and I was a big fan of his but never thought he would last till pick 40!

This is from Paige Cardona's final Phantom Draft where she predicted him to go at #21.

Alex Neal-Bullen

Position: Midfielder
Height: 182 cm, Weight: 77 kg, DOB: 09/01/1996
Club: Glenelg
Plays like: Dane Swan

There’s plenty to love about Alex Neal-Bullen, who’ll slot in just nicely as a big bodied inside midfielder next to Luke Dunstan. Unrighteously overlooked for an All-Australian jumper off the back of a super national championships, Alex Neal-Bullen is one of the more fancied inside midfielders that offers bang for buck. Forced to play predominantly forward with cameo appearances through the midfield in 2013, Neal-Bullen has since stamped himself as a bona fide ball-winning machine for Glenelg. It’s difficult for some players to find another level post-championships, but that is exactly what Neal-Bullen has done. Coming into the championships, Neal-Bullen averaged 15 disposals per game, but has since averaged 24 per game on return. Neal-Bullen is a competitive beast: he hunts the ball, he’s assertive at the stoppages and his repeat tackling efforts – which usually stop the opposition in their tracks – makes him a coach pleaser. He is deceptively quick, and has a lot of Dane Swan about him in the way he collects the ball and arches his back, creating separation to break away from a contest. He is versatile enough to play off half back and half forward, and has a big tank that allows him to cover so much of the ground. He rated among the best in his endurance, running a third-best overall three-kilometre time trial of 9:54 at the combine, while he came equal-fifth with a level 15.2 beep test

Looks like a huge steal judging by his combine & champs stats.

Top 5 in both the 3km time trial and beep test is quality.

SA won the national carnival and he was one of their key midfielders (along with Stretch).

The only other SA midfielder to go before him was Hamilton one pick prior, who Knightmare didn't rate as highly (no where near actually).

Did we just get a steal??? I bloody hope so!

Well done Dees!

His highlights on the mfc website look good - one of those blokes who seem to always have time weaving through traffic. Kicking looks ok, good mark. Might have a steal here

Struggle to work out why SA smashed the carnival and so few of their players were rated.

Yeah, I know they were "well-coached", but it must be more than that.

ANB sounds the sort of mid that brings others into the game.

Could be our Josh Kelly/Corey Enright etc in converting to half back.

Judging by his twitter photo I'd leave the misses in South Australia ANB

Welcome to the Dees Alex thought we had missed our chance at getting him when we traded pick 23 for Frost but really happy to still manage to get him

On the outside feeding the forwards as is his want. This bolstering of inside mids will be the making of him and Salem

Agree.. Is it 2016 yet.. ;-)

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

    TRAINING: Monday 16th December 2024

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session.
