Michael Evans Delisted

Pick 53 I would suggest. As many on here have mentioned the PSD is just about irrelevant. You either get blokes onto your list in a trade, at the Nov draft or as a FA or DFA.

McClure suggested that we were looking at paying him out. So that would give us picks 2, 3 ,40 and 53 and 2 rookie spots as live picks.

Jetta progressed well and established himself within the best 22.

Hard to find an excuse for him going backwards

One year ago people were saying the same thing about Jetta....List clogger, ect....During the year he got his act together and people are all over him for his improvement....I take it that Evans doesn't get the same latitude???

So as I have made somewhat clear I had source that said the club was looking to pay out Evans (or the initial choice either rookie or get Evans to walk away from his contract).

I thought Barry's retirement would actually help Evans. Gets that extra pick we needed.

The more I think about it, it either doesn't change the situation (if you're coming from the Redleg stance) or it actually makes Evans position shakier.

The club just saved probably close to 150k on Barry going and replacing him with a draft pick (200k v 50k base salary). We can now use that to afford to pay out Evans. Finances are definitely taken in to account here.

I think Evans will get paid out in a mutual agreement.

Hope we use both picks 40 & 53 and would be happy with any two of Oscar McDonald, Ed Langdon, Touk Miller, Caleb Daniel or Matthew Panos.

That, in addition to Sam Frost makes me feel pretty comfortable with us giving up Evans and pick 23.

No. If Evans is delisted (which I agree with) then pick 53 is in play. Next pick is then for Jetta upgrade.

draft #2,3,40,53 plus rookie draft #2, 20.

I agree all the Bailey & Neeld sins are being addressed.

It appears now that ruthless decisions are being made on football considerations rather than political.

"Melbourne on-baller Michael Evans is also considering his future, with the Demons intent on dropping him to the rookie list today."

My very basic understanding of the scenario is that club wants him on rookie on same $. He doesn't want to be rookied, he said he'll retire but than that would involve club paying $$$ to not play. Quite a game of chess by the looks of the news reports. I think they'll pay him out and delist him.

For every Jetta that magically turns it around after 5 years on the list there are 10 that won't and shouldn't be given the opportunity. Evans is a 6 ft dime a dozen midfielder with no point of difference. It was atrocious list management offering him anymore than 1 year at a time, just as it was giving McKenzie and Jamar 3 years.

He obviously does not want to be at the club and seems to not have faith in his ability to progress to the level he needs to be at to be on the senior list. Let him go and draft someone with the right attitude.

I suspect he wants to be at the club, is seeing the writing on the wall and that's his manager doing all the chess moves.

If he retires are we obliged to pay him? Seems to be that Evans would be the one breaking the contract.

As long as he was getting the same $$$ surely it is our right to rookie him.

However would rather him gone - sounds like he will be disaffected anyway.

Depends on the circumstances of the retirement. We paid out (some) of Mitch Clark's contract when he retired. I'm of the opinion that 'retired' is a nice way of saying delisted in this scenario.

For us to rookie list him, the club would have to delist him then draft him through the rookie draft. He can always turn around and say no I don't want to be drafted, which essentially turns in to us paying him out.

if he wants to be at the club then his manager has a funny way of showing it. certainly not doing Evans any favors. Most players will only get one shot at playing football at this level, if he does not rookie with melbourne then he may find his dream of playing alf is over so are the large pay checks he has been receiving. Being a rookie gives him a chance to continue to improve himself and strive for that dream of staying on the seniors list for another 6 years or so, taking the money and running is likely to be the end of his career.

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
