I realise I should know this, but what's the record for number of Blueys? And consecutive Blueys?

Posted

This all started with getting Roos, getting the culture right and getting the players excited about the clubs future and direction....

Take a bow Peter Jackson.

Having PJ is probably the best thing that has happened to the club in the last 20 years. IMO he should be on the banner.

I don't disagree with you what I was suggesting was that he had not said those words.

My experience has been when someone says " I want to remain a one club player " then you know that are off.

So far Jones has not said those words.

Well now he can say it and it will be true.

Amazing what difference a couple of days and one signature makes.

While I have never had any doubt about the character of Nate, perhaps more importantly, this decision says a lot more about the direction this club has taken, which is diametrically opposed to a few years ago. I feel realistically more confident as each day passes. Now all that has to happen is that the injury Karma bus stays well and truly clear of the MFC

I think that you will find that it is Jim Stynes with four (and Carl Dietrich holds the record for the number of Blues)!.

Premiership player is only overrated when discussing Nick Maxwell or Nathan Ablett.

Not sure the Pies would have won the Premiership without Nick Maxwell. Yeah, he's a bit unco and not the most gifted player, and yeah, he's about as attractive as the back of a bus, but the man was a bloody good leader. You only had to see the effect on the team once he did his ankle this year to know that his impact went far beyond what he did with the ball. I reckon Tom Harley is the same.

(Oh, and for my on-topic contribution: Chunk I love you more than it is healthy for a man to love another man who he has never even met).

So what is it 4 years @ $750,000 pa

Or maybe 4 years @ $850,000

Absolute legend.

Now I hope the idiots around him help him see some finals action.

I've distanced myself from having favourites as I've become bitter and pessimistic over the years, but I love a fighter, and I love a good consistent player, which has even seemed like too much to ask for at this club in recent years.

I love Jonesy. I want us to succeed just for him.

Ummm... No.

Stynes has the record for most Blueys (4 - shared with Allan La Fontaine), and most consecutive (3 - shared with Jones).

I'd have Jones at very short odds to equal most Blueys and beat most consecutive Blueys records in 2015.

Carl Ditterich won 1.

Yes, great news. Now to win some bloody games with the bald headed warrior crunching the packs as always! May open a nice red tonight to celebrate for something completely different!

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
