Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

May as well post this for a third time, but in the proper thread now. Take it as you will:

MY MAIL:

Just spoke to my connection down at the Falcons. He said that if Petracca goes pick 1, we must take McCartin. Said the kid is an absolute brute, who plays aggressively and can mark, kick, tackle, out body and the rest.

Makes me think of what could be with a combination of Hogan and McCartin down there for the next 10 years. Also said he is a monster that would be ready to go round 1.

Said he played bottom age last year, and made the All-Australian side, and also actually broke Dom Sheeds collar bone in one of the matches.

Downside is that he has diabetes, and has sometimes had to run off the field to check his levels but is making good progress in learning how to manage this.

Anyways just what I got told. For me, if Petracca goes #1 like he is expected to, McCartin and Brayshaw would be my wishes.

He has been talked about as a top 3 pick along with Wright and Petracca for about 12 months.

Brayshaw has only come up into that upper bracket in the last 6 or so months, while the likes of Durdin and Goddard have slid big time.

If it's not Petracca and Brayshaw, it would make the most sense - in terms of where players are rated over a long period of time - for it to be one of Wright or McCartin.

Wright is my personal preference, but either way we should be getting a very highly rated big man.

People saying he's undersized is ridiculous. He is bigger than Jack Darling and he goes alright...

Completely agree, Jesse Hogan was listed at 193 and 91kgs (now 195cm and 95kg as per MFC site) in his draft year.

2. Melbourne - Jesse Hogan (WA – KPF)

Height: 193cm, Weight: 91kg, DOB: 12/02/1995

Recruited from: Claremont

Style: Jonathan Brown

Player comparison:

Range: 1-5

Profile: Strong contested marking forward and is a real presence and target you can kick to. Also has excellent ability to take a 1v1 mark and this seems a real feature of his game. Reads it well in the air and off the players boot. Has the ability to crash packs and bring it to ground and seems to enjoy the physical side of the game. Physically developed for his age and already a very high level key forward. By foot is a good field kick and can find a leading target. Will need to work on set shot goal kicking routine – just doesn’t look as fluid as you’d ideally like to see and as a result his set shot goal kicking seems to suffer.

Why:

For some reason nothing about him appeals to me, seems one dimensional & under sized to be classed as a power forward.

same

he seems very underwhelming

You really needed to see him last year to get an idea of how good he could be. This year he struggled with injury all the way through.

His game against SA u18's was a beauty, looked like a young Plugger and I don't care about the game has changed etc Plugger would be a great player now.

Would be happy if our guys thought he was worth picking.

Tony Lockett at 191 cm would have been considered undersized by your standards.

Secondly, I certainly don't find him underwhelming.

For me as I've stated before the club should be drafting (pick 2 & 3) entirely based on talent, not needs.

My top three consist of Petracca, McCartin, and Brayshaw. I hope to see two of those on our list by the end of the draft night.

If one of those two ends up being McCartin, I just hope he and Hogan can develop into a potent forward line duo that we'll see at our club for the next 10 years or so.

A lot of people have bemoaned that if Jack Darling was a little bit taller, he would be a jet.

Meet McCartin

Not sure McCartin is as quick Darling but if he is clearly better then the next best mid for the love of god draft McCartin.

I still think that the Saints are a chance to take him. I am not sure which one I would take between him and Petracca. Glad we won't have to pick between them, and we win either way

Well the whole footy world will be stunned if that happens.

i am just salivating at the thought of Hogan and McCartin as our two key forwards for the next ten years. ATM we also have Dawes, Howe, Fitzy, Gawn, Pedersen, Watts etc. Now with Garlett added to crumb and JKH and Kent, we would have a pretty good forward line. Every other move could be for mids. Maybe a a late or Rookie pick for a ruckman.

We are in a total win, win.

Saints take MCartin, we get Brayshaw and Petracca. If they take Petracca, we take Brayshaw and (hopefully) Mcartin. I have a boner already.

What makes you think that Saints will pass on Petracca?

The media and Stkilda are full of [censored] for one.

Secondly, the Saints wanting to downgrade to pick 4 and being linked to McCartin as the reason for wanting that trade - we snookered them by threatening to trade one our picks to the Doggies who would have taken him.

Thirdly, trading out Stanley.

Fourthly, the media are full of [censored].

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to
