The question is what would you get for him?

Three coaches, 6 seasons and not too much on the highlight reel.

People need to get serious when saying he could elite, he isn't A grade and barely B.

Maybe a new club is the kick he needs, because his performance this year isn't good enough.

Edit: that last line applies to the majority of the list.

I'm thinking this whole thread was started as an experiment to see which football 'journalist' runs with the story, based on reading it here.

Right now I'll be devastated if we don't trade Watts.

I expected a massive list change after the pathetic efforts from some of the club's veterans over the last half of the season. Not one person who played in that GWS game has been delisted, traded or otherwise (apart from Frawley leaving). Sends a shiver up my spine.

Jack Watts has played 0 "great" games for the MFC. In his 6 years at the club, that is astonishing. Those crying wolf over him being traded clearly have an unwarranted man crush on him. The fact of the matter is, he is simply just not that good of an AFL player, regardless of the fact he was a previous #1 pick.

Some people will argue that he has great skills and good decision making, but he simply doesn't get enough of the ball. This is his major problem, and his biggest deficiency as a player. He is soft. He is nowhere near physical or aggressive enough and he doesn't want to be.

He will never be a good player. He will be lucky enough to turn into an average player.

Watts has very limited currency in the eyes of other clubs, particularly with some ex Dee players.

OK lets put Howe out there then, & see if we can get back into the early picks?

we can spend 12 months rebuilding watts his name ?

If pick 12 is so important to our trade strategy, shop Watts, Howe and Toumpas. Surely you'd get some interested parties for the latter two.

Collingwood were keen on Watts too, if you believe the rumour mill.

His currency is not worth the sale, keep and develop as best as possible. I've always defended jack, but a couple efforts this year had me ready to put my foot through my tv. But I still say keep him

Jack has skills no doubt about it. Would have to be a substantial trade. He appears scared on occasion and does tend to hang back a little. As to putting on the weight this may not suit his running dashing weaving style. He seems big enough just lacks some courage and heart. Shows in glimpses but thats about it.

if a trade for a big fish falls through, youd think we have a backup plan of doing a Bernie Vince type deal with pick 23

Yeah not too sure why we aren't doing anything with 23?? Easy currency for a good midfielder around Vince's age. Surely Roos has someone in mind?

If we need an earlier pick or an improvement on pick 23 to land a quality player and Watts can deliver that then trade, trade, trade!!

I think Jack could be a handy player in a good side surrounded by quality which basically renders him useless to us at this stage

Surely he can be worth enough on the market to exchange with pick 23 for an earlier pick to on trade

Also it would also be about the single biggest step in moving on from the past we could take, former number one pick who was seen as and presented as the savior yet never lived up to the hype, lacks the want and determination to get the most out of himself basically represents everything wrong about this club over recent times i,e, the assumption that getting heaps of kids with talents will be enough.

I thought the Victor Chan ref was clever and apt.

Watts has everything that would make him a star of the game except for heart, or balls, or whatever you want to call it.

Bad taste or not, it is what it is, and pretending it is anything else isn't doing us or him any favours.

Banned for 6 weeks for telling the truth.

And will have to front JW lovers before being allowed back on demonland.

Grimes to Richmond is what I would do for 12

He can be with his brother, and a fresh start for him.

Josh Mahoney asked on SEN today if Watts is up for trade and he said a straight NO

ya know....its ok to NOT believe what clubs say at this time of year :) I actually only believe what occurs and not much else.

Again my mail was Watts was definitely put up and early. However was met with a rather coolish reception so they brought him back down again and it 'might' be why its easy to say now he never was.

This is only what I was told, and may never have happened , but it makes credible sense to me. Keep in mind the club itself stated very early that everyone has a price.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
