What about our second rounder for Giles and Frost? Surely GWS interested in a trade that involves multiple players leaving lol

We need to use a pick in the draft to upgrade Jetta to our senior list, as he was technically a rookie list player this year.

Doh! Yes of course.

Was thinking the same. We're clearly not prepared to give them much for Frost, but would be happy to part with our second rounder if they give us two players.

It's not a bad idea. Giles would be a handy pick up for us, considering is on the precipice and Spencer is still yet to prove himself, although he did start the year well.

Could just tell GWS they can have our second rounder for their second rounder and Frost, or else we'll take him for free in the PSD. They get a mildly better pick and don't lose him for nothing.

Their second rounder is tied to that Steel bloke. Their other picks are 19 and 21 or soemthing i.e. before ours

Out: Frawley, Clark, Byrnes, Clisby, Nicholson (Blease, Tapscott, Strauss, ?Evans)

In: Garlett, Jetta, Lumumba, Frost, Stretch, 2, 3, 22 ?PSD

Clark for Lumumba. Could we get something more added in to that trade?

Not sure how we get Frost without downgrading the second round pick unless they have interest in one of our guys who are on the chop.

2 low rated players shouldn't equal a second round pick.

Plus how much better is Giles as a back up than Pedersen, Fitzpatrick or Gawn? Or as a primary ruck than Spencer? Or even Maxy King.

Not enough to make a trade in my mind. Stick to guys we have who are (somewhat) competent in the position.

Especially if we had plans of taking Peter Wright in the draft. Giles would be just dropping an extra tall back in to the VFL for not a lot of benefit.

GWS got Tom Lamb through the PSD away from Sydney last year. Maybe it's time they lose a player through the PSD.

I just wish Terlich wasn't re-signed as quickly as they did.

Nothing against him, I just wish they left that option a little longer in case if something/ someone better came along.

If not and they did eventuate in re-signing him later it may have given him a greater indication to pull his finger out and work harder over the pre-season by cleaning up his disposal (e.g target practice + more target practice to the point where friends got sick and tired of having a kick with him).

Jed. Jed Lamb.

Tom is in this year's draft.

in - Frost, pick 40

Out - pick 23.

Thoughts?

Pick 23 is worth a Bernie Vince type. I think that benchmark for Roos was set last year.

I'd say we've left the ball in GWS' court to offer us a deal worth considering, otherwise we'll just get him for free in the PSD. Hence the delay.

Of course. Well if we sneak Frost in through the PSD we can draft Tom Lamb with pick 23!

Probably too much. That pick downgrade is worth another pick 30 on it's own.

What we are looking at with Frost is pretty much another Tom McDonald from 2012/2013. Decent, but still could go either way. The both of them in the same team (and a team that features Jack Grimes as a rebounding flanker) is a recipe for disaster!

Good efforts and 4's and 5's. But you need to go to another level to be a consistent defender.

Pick 3 for Frost and Shiel. They can then on-trade 3 to the doggies to get Griffin over the line. Everyone is happy.

Shiel is untradeable, so the only way trades like that get over the line (according to all the bizarre player movements we've seen this week) is if we personally convince Shiel to nominate us and we offer pick 3 to get him.

Instead of trading pick 23 for frost and 40, I'd probably look to trade pick 23 for a late 20's pick and that teams 3rd rounder

Then we can on trade the 3rd round pick for Frost.

I reckon a pick in the 40's is about Frost's value, and If we did this deal with for example Carlton (pick 23 for pick 28 and pick 46) we would end up in practice trading pick 23 for pick 28 and Frost, which I reckon is a decent result

Everybody has a price, Shiel for Griffen, is Shiel likely to head back to Victoria at the end of 2015, but if he is untradeable that's fine Treloar in his place will be fine by me

IIRC rookie upgrades are usually the last draft pick.

Yes, but some clubs will be done after a few rounds and some will be taking rookies in the 90s.

While Frost did play 14 of GWS'S first 15 games, he was left out of their side in 5 of the last 7 games, so I fail to see how they can then demand a pick as high as 23???

I think Fitzpatrick is our best bet of getting Frost, even if it's through a three way trade where we send Fitz to Carlton for example as a cog in that Jaksch/Pick 7/19 trade and we got Frost out at the end of it?

Makes sense.

Or you try and get a pick from the Cats in the MC deal in addition to getting HL Then give it to GWS.

If the Whiley/Jaksch deal goes through as it currently stands, surely that would make Frost worth pick 60+ at best. Lumumba's value is in the 30-40 range and he has greater currency than Frost.

Whiley roughly equals Frost, and Whiley is merely the steak knives in the Jaksch deal.

But, I would happily pay more to package a decent midfielder into the deal (or Giles for that matter).

GWS def Sam Frost could join Melbourne in pre-season draft. Frost - to help cover Frawley - for nothing and pick 3 would be a big Dees win.

Yes please.

Good news,. unless St Kilda shaft us and take him at pick 1

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the

Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’
