The Brownlow

Featured Replies

Good result. One of the most consistent performers and highly under rated.

Also the best hair on a winner since The Rat, John Platten.

Well done Nate Jones 16th best in the league , but not AA!!

But it's really just the 16th best midfielder in the league though isn't it? Not that I'm complaining.

true....except buddy

Awsome effort Priddis! Deserved it and clearly best player in the league this year.

Really?? If you can point to one post when you mention that, I'd be amazed.

The winner of the brownlow didnt even make the all australian so jones had no hope

The All Australian team is 90% popularity parade and 10% objective reward for quality.

Great to see Priddis win...sometimes it has seemed that the umpires play 'catch-up' and overly notice a player who perhaps should have won the previous year.

Great to see they resisted this temptation and to see a whole bunch of new names in the top 10!

...but... Josh Kelly will win 5 Brownlows!?!

..... "tell him he is dream'n"

I really doubt it but it doesn't matter because we already have someone who is polling well at an early stage. An inspired pick by Roos.

Robbie Gray got no where near it and I lost $20, apart from that, pretty much uneventful.

Congratulations to Matt Priddis, he's been a consistently excellent player for a long time now. I always wonder how much more highly regarded players like Priddis, Boak, etc would be if they were playing in one of the big Victorian teams.

It is also fantastic to have the Jim Stynes medal presented during the ceremony. There are a lot of players doing great work in the community that you never hear about, and it is nice that they are recognised.

PS. Kevin Sheedy - just go away forever. Please. I thought that tribute was meant to be about Bailey & Hafey, but you seemed to take it as an opportunity to talk about yourself for five minutes.

Congrats to Priddis, well deserved, and, a nice touch of 'Soul Glo' through the hair too.

Humour me for a moment:

Tyson gets 11 votes in one year and has only played 35 career games. No GWS or Suns player goes close to that. (Prestia 13 votes 73 games)

Jack Macrae at the Dogs 10 votes this year (34 career games) also very impressive. Picked one spot ahead of Oliver Wines (why oh why didn't we pick him!?! ......Macrae that is.)

Scully 10 votes over his career of 86 games (at $45,000 per game).

Well done Mr Tyson lets hope you win it one day (after MrJones).

Congrats to Priddis.

Funniest moment for me was The Chad channelling Ricky Bobby when being interviewed by Timmy Watson. Painful, and yet I couldn't look away.

Rapt that Priddis won it, humbe and seems like a genuine good bloke.

Also can't remember when we had two players poll over 10 votes! how sad. well done Jonesy & Tyson.

Perhaps Sheedy thought that at the time, DB was treated pretty shabbily by the MFC. There is some weight to that argument.

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
