ill bite, if we play hogan in the back line who is our real ff? lol

Do some people think he will be played down back? I have heard people suggest it, but i dismissed out pretty quickly.

He's been a forward for much of his career to date, rated as the best young forward out of the last 2 years drafts (last year).

it worked for Neitz....

I do think lumumba would be good for our club. I was opposed at first, but I've since thought about it a bit more.
He's got great run and carry out of the back line, his disposal can be questionable, but he can run it out like no on on our team.
We will get at least a few years out of him, if its a straight swap for clark then its a win.

He's got some good experience, and he's shown he can be pretty handy.

still can't believe people, nope sorry, MFC supporters are bagging out a 27 year old All Australian backman that wants, and i stress WANTS to come to our football club. Which i remind you has been and still is the laughing stock of the AFL.

YOU ACTUALLY HAVE NO [censored] IDEA IF YOU THINK GETTING HIM IS A BAD IDEA.

Never should've been AA and certainly isn't now.

Good trainer. Good runner. Can't kick. Can't make good decisions. He'll need to turn back the clock to benefit us otherwise no matter what pick we used it was probably better just heading to the draft.

Good trainer- tick

Good runner- tick

Two things almost our entire squad hasn't had for 8 years now.

Can't kick?- who can in our team bar Watts (when he decides to get it), Salem (needs to grow pubes), Toumpas (when he plays 1's), N. Jones (living legend)

Can't make good decisions?- would hate to have that in our back line *cough Grimes, Terlich, Mcdonald cough*

Come on mate, you're comparing a rose to weeds here.

Not a standout star but a bloody win in my books.

Gees, everyone seems to have lost their sense of humour.

I have no issue with getting him, but lets be honest, if this is the best trade week brings up for us, I'd be pretty disappointed.

I have enough connections at Collingwood to know that Lumumba is not an easy fit at any club, and comes with his own unique set of problems.

Doesn't mean I don't want him to succeed and do well, and of course I'll support him in a Melbourne jumper.

If we trade Clark for him though, I'd feel like once again Collingwood get away with bullying a poorer club.

yep that us, done & dusted, we got our man... PJ your a devlish dastardly operator.

Ok here's my take on the situation: I wasn't a huge fan of getting him, the way in which he exited the Pies lent himself to being precious and possibly a distraction. But he has chosen us as his club of choice, and no doubt that was Paul Roos driven (who by the way just about everyone trusts implicitly). He could add some desperately needed pace to our backline, has experience so there will be no learning curve and has shown AA ability in the past (whether or not you think it was deserved is beside point).

If we get him, support him. Simple as that. How many times has Roos turned a player around? He could do it again.

I'd love to see his overall stats in terms of kicking efficiency. Reckon his kicking is underrated.

Agree with everything else too. Would make us much, much better in so many ways.

Him on one flank with Malceski on the other. Trade one for Clark (who we all thought retired anyways getting us no return) and the other as an unrestricted free agent.

Still leaves is with a couple top picks and a decent f/s.

Make it happen Dees

I wonder what Roos/Viney/Mahoney are willing to give up for him...

As Jaded alludes - he isn't a priority for our progress.

But he will be welcome, more so if the deal is suitable.

they already know

its a done deal by now

only words for New Idea left to offer

I think Roos said it at one stage. The idea is to take the pressure of expectation off him as he learns the game.

I agree he will be an upgrade for our team coming out of our backline but I dunno how much we should give for him. If it was a direct swap between Clark and him maybe since we're bound to lose Clark anyway.

But as people have mentioned his disposal is questionable. He isn't a great defender but a decent run and carry and long kick down the line player but I don't think we're trying to play that type of game anymore. Under Mick Malthouses game plan he was great and thats when he got his AA, but in recent seasons he has stagnated a lot and I'm not sure he has that penetrating kick coming out of the backline that we really need such as a nick malceski. I'm just hoping we don't pay overs for him!

If last years trade and draft period are a template, I reckon Heritier is equivalent to our recruiting of Cross, solid reliable experienced player with the right attitude.

A good pick up.

More Vince than Cross I'd say.

Trade value will depend greatly on where Billy Stretch gets taken.

I suspect conversations have already taken place with St Kilda in regards to how they envisage using their second round pick.

(This on the premise that I can't imagine anyone bidding a first round on Billy.)

Given that Harry nominated us and the pies want Harry out we should offer a late second rounder at best. If pies don't like that then we'll take him in the draft where ex players go. If Collingwood want Clark they can bid with Geelong for him- if Clark really cares about our compensation and truly doesn't mind where his fresh start tajes place then he'll go wherever we sen him.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
