I think Lumumba will be a good fit for us. What i like about him is.. He backs himself into run and run hard and will take the game on, but also has the smarts to do so.. When we only win 4 games in a year, we cant knock back players of his talent..

The club cant get him out the door quick enough. Why?

The best clubman award is like the fundraising queen at the local beauty pageant. Gotta give the ugly girls something hey?

And how does his standing in the best and fairest make him any less of a weirdo?? Irrelevant. I would be interested to hear what the players think after he leaves, as its far easier to speak the truth when the guy isn't there any more. I suspect there will be some popping corks.

For the record, I am happy at the thought of him running off half back, and delivering FORWARD, unlike our other half backs. I just hope the guy can keep his mouth shut, before he drives anyone mad.

Sign him up, and get him in the side.

You seem like you're conflicted Faulty. And I'm right there with you. I can't stand show ponies and H is shaping up like one now - anyone who supports him unequivocally surely can't have seen the vision of his speech at the CFC B&F.

But I've been an unquestioning supporter of his until now because he can bring a skill we desperately need - run and delivery off half back.

If we still take him on, I just hope he does that without getting too much into the heads of our better players and tearing the club apart.

Look, I'll buy as many of H's pumpkin scones outside Gate 3 as it takes to get his mind and energies onto feeding the great unwashed, instead of taking his personal crusades into the change rooms.

Yes, like he got into the heads of the Collingwood players and tore the club apart.

FFS.

Righto Bing. Thanks for that. When we have the same strength of culture and resilience as CFC, I'll agree with your 'FFS'. But I reckon right now we have a much more fragile culture among the players than that.

So Lumumba is responsible for tearing Collingwood apart? Come on. He'll bring exactly what you've identified - much needed run and carry off half back.

And you think Roos and co have failed to identify this, do you? By all accounts he's a great trainer and clubman. He should add quite a bit to the MFC. When we get him we need to support blokes that actually want to come to Melbourne.

I fully agree he will add to MFC. And I'm sure the coaching panel know what they're getting into. I just want to see all of his pluses and none of his minuses if and when he comes to MFC. Maybe I'm living in fantasyland.

I saw it, and have thoroughly failed to understand why it's got people in to such a spin.

For what it's worth Nasher, what I saw from H was "me, me, me" rather than "team, team, team".

I might be a bit too puritanical on this, but IMHO if you are going to get to the top, it's about the team first and always, not the individual.

so you just don't like him? Or you don't like how he sounds when talking, or the fact he speaks out publicly about Issues he feels strongly about. I hope your not a Kindy teacher, otherwise all your kids will sit on cold floors in the dark corner. Learning to stop whinging & just shutup.

He spoke about the club he is being kicked out of too...

He was also accepting a personal award at the time.

I think he can be forgiven for talking about himself and his motivations in his acceptance speech.

Huge chance he's holding a candlelight vigil at Frawleys house demanding answers on why he lied. He told me multiple times Frawley told him there was no way he was leaving.

Seriously, I think the big guy needs a break from the Dee's. They must break his heart.

Getting laid off/moved on isn't the best place to be at any age, couldn't help.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the

We'll break down the Match SIM against North Melbourne and wrap up the preseason with insights into training and our latest recruits. I apologize for skipping our annual season review show at the end of last season. After a disapponting season filled with off-field antics and a heated trade week, I needed a break. Thankfully, the offseason has recharged me, and I’m back—ready t
