* we have purge the list a fair bit. Got to change the list

* expects Jack Watts to stay at Melbourne but no certainties - anything is possible

* Jackson will be at Melb for a while - got the sense that will be announced at B & F but likes succession planing

PJ is the best CEO that I have seen at this club since I have followed it. He never gets sucked into saying anything sensationalistic as GTB said and is practical, measured and no nonsense.

Plus his performance this year has kept the focus MOSTLY on the playing group. They really have had no excuse as all PJ has been interested in (as far as I can tell) is making the MFC a powerhouse. There have been no silly political games, crony appointments given to mates, administrative incompetence or backstabbing of people supposedly on the outer.

I didn't see the interview today but I agree 100% CBF. The list/team will take 3 seasons to become competitive and this is being left to the football dept, recruiters and coaching staff.

PJ and the Board have quietly and skilfully done work to make the club strong behind the scenes. This is like electrical conduit - it runs underground and no-one sees it but its just is vital. Landing AHG as a sponsor, getting rid of the cronies and chronic MFC hangers-on, and getting seasoned professionals into senior admin roles has been a difficult and important job. Well done to all involved in this herculean task.

And I love the silent way they have got this job done. No press statements, no noise, no "look-at-me". They have simply got the job done.

PJ is a top operator.

Always seems to have the right answer and he's ruthless in the right way and in his own way. What stands out is where his focus lies. No dilly-dallying around with this bloke and sets out a clear pathway and he knows what he's talking about.

There are other CEO's like him and some are probably even better so we shouldn't be too concerned about losing him. He'll leave the place in good hands when he moves on because that's how he thinks and acts.

However, the succession plan for both his own position and Roos' position are critical decisions so you'd hope he'd be around to have a strong say in both those appointments. The position of football manager going forward is another vital one and we might already have our man for the future in Josh Mahoney. Again, PJ would know what to do with regards to that particular position.

Obviously Chip is gone - we knew he would walk but to hear there has been an offer on the table for some time and it has basically been ignored means he won't be coming back. Good riddance.

I also liked to hear that no player is going to be untouchable (although you have to think there are some who won't get traded) and that they are fully committed to purging the list, which is fantastic.

Agree with the sentiments that PJ is absolutely brilliant for our club. I can say with confidence that we are in great hands for the first time in a long time.

One thing that really stand out for me personally is how little we hear from PJ and the board now days, I think the signs of a really well run organisation is that the real heavy hitters hire very qualified people to run each department and they really just work in the background, I think PJ is a master of this

It's clear PJ thinks everything through before he says it as he is able to stay on message beautifully. The statement on Chip was a big one but he was smart enough to announce it in terms that didn't sound like sour grapes.
It was an interesting contrast. PJ: the professional manager vs. Hutchy: the football club groupie who parlayed that into a career as a journo who also sleeps on the part of the back seat of his car where there are no pie wrappers or empty Big M cartons.

Interesting PJ emphasised that we did not ask for a priority pick but for special consideration for compensation given our circumstances. Hutchy wanted to make the usual dig that we as tankers had called for a priority pick, just like every other media outlet and that we had stuffed every other pick up so why do we deserve any more help etc, etc, and so on and so on.

We may be seeking second round picks. We have heard it all before, absolute incoherent, illogical argument as usual. You don't deserve help because you are stuffed, you made mistakes and the early draft picks didn't work like we thought they might. That is why the hawks were rewarded for failure in 2004, 2005 and so on, that led to their current success.
