He was pretty measured. Basically said not up to AFL standard and couldn't believe the poor quality of disposal. Agreed with the assessment that the players looked like they had put the cue in the rack for the season and were satisfied with 4 wins. Would change the game plan if it was that simple. They evaluate players on a weekly basic to determine who is up to AFL standard. 3-5 year project to rebuild the club. Chose not to speak to the players after the game as there were no positives to discuss.

Sub AFL standard.. No positives to come from today. Like the supporters can't believe how players could miss shots and handbills. Difficult now with free agency because players have the option to go to better clubs eg. Franklin, Goddard, Dal Santo. Things can change quickly in football. First 14 weeks of the season AFL standard, now virtually back to square-one. PJ never sugar-coated where the club was at. Some players have already put the cue in the rack. Didn't speak to the players after the match. There will be wholesale changes at the end of the year who is up to it and who isn't

Didn't hear the bit about wholesale changes.

He did say he was embarrassed. Each player could respond in their own way.

i couldnt get it to downlaod but a coach not speaking to the players after the game must be massive?!?!?!

Said he was embarrassed, that we gave up, that we've given up on the season, and that you can pick whatever game plan you want, if you can't execute basic skills then it doesn't matter.

The challenge for him is to work out how to fix these. How do you teach players who have been playing football for years how to kick, if they don't already know? More importantly, how do you rid players of the mental issues that plague them whenever the signs of a loss start appearing?

Was going to watch it. Decided I can't even bother.

Laughed at this from AFL.com.au

This is massive for me. It's similar to your parents saying: "we are not angry, we are just really disappointed."

I like what Roos did there. He pointed out that the top 4 sides are similar to last year.

The top 4 sides next year - will be similar to this year.

Through free agency if players leave the top clubs - they go to other top clubs, not bottom clubs.

With the introduction of GWS and GC, bottom sides have missed out on a lot of talent.

Roos would be scratching his head as to how we are going to improve enough to make finals.

The club is bereft of talent and in the current landscape of AFL - talent does not want to play for poor clubs.

Seems to be battle lines being drawn between him and the players tbh. A few referrals to the players flying the white flag. That's a fair whack. Deserved yes....but from the coach himself? Not sure. Also seemed very willing to be drawn in on the topic of delisting of players.

Not his best moment but it's almost impossible to have a good moment after that.

Alot of them are on their own for the next two games to salvage their careers. Expect another two performances like today.

Definite low point in the Roos rebuild.

It was also interesting when he said, "you don't want to say something you might regret..." Underneath is disappointed, but also seething.

I agree, saying to the players directly after the match "most of u are a bunch of farting useless plicks and cant kick or handball if your lives depended on it" probably wouldn't be a good thing to say!!!

Save it till tomorrow

Listened to the Roos pressed. A bit worriedn that it was all about them, the players and not about us the club, players and coaches.

He was one [censored] individual, and rightly so.

For too long these players have been serving up this crap.

Massive that Roos didnt talk to the players.

Yeah, I didn't like it.

He also seems very unwilling to take on any responsibility himself.

I'm not anti-Roos but when you're one of the lowest scoring teams in history, the coach is answerable to some degree, surely. Offensively speaking he has done the unthinkable and taken the team backwards.

As my mum would say "if u don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all".

He has never been to a Casey Game. I have seen other AFL coaches (e.g. Buckley, McCartney, Thompson) at their reserves games. Apparently relies on down the ground video.

My take from the presser is that its not the coaching but the execution of the game plan. Oh and the skills. Isn't the improvement of skills the coaches (not just Roos) role?

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
