Post Match Discussion - Round 19

We have brought in new improved coaches.

We have brought in a new board and administration.

We still suck.

We must move on these lazy, stupid, incompetent players who are seemingly happy to accept inept efforts, and lean on pissweak excuses for their lack of ability or want to improve.

Some will leap to their defence but what happened today is inexcusable on any level and shows a lack of respect for the club, the supporters and their team mates.

While this continues our club is going nowhere with a bullet.

I could continue but nothing has or will change, and we are a million miles from just being able to compete on a weekly basis.

Worst performance of the year - indistinguishable from the Neeld rubbish

Forget missing shots, we in no way deserved to even be in that contest.

That is the 8th time in 18 games we have kicked 7 goals or less for the day, how disgraceful

Another 34 i-50s is completely uncompetitive

How pizzweak to concede 5 goals for the day then 6 in the last 20 minutes

When it was there to be won Brissy stepped it up a notch and we went backwards

Totally lay down like the bunch of peahearts they continue to prove themselves as

If Paul Roos cannot get their heads right, what hope do we have?

What kind of position does this garbage put us in for attracting talent and retaining members?

How many pathetic skill errors and bad decisions can a side possibly make in one afternoon

Hawthorn will KILL us next week by 100 mark my words, and we will finish bottom

I give 6 players a pass mark and the other 16 were pathetic

Dawes has had 30 disposals and 1 goal in his last 4 weeks FCS!

Watts, Tapscott and Blease useless as usual

What has happened to Garland?

Vince absolutely torched us about 5 times with stupidity, lack of skill or selfishness

Riley and McKenzie the two least polished players in the competition

So angry and sad

Need some tissues there P-man?

Blease might break lines but he turns it over, can't find the footy and doesn't run both ways. He brings not even half of what Bail brings to the table and you know it.

And I don't know how I'm the d-head here, if you can't handle discussion here then maybe you shouldn't post.

Bail does far more team things than Blease. Blease IMO goes first.

However, Bail is not helping his cause by failing to eradicate his continual mistakes. All year he's been running hard, tackling, chasing, pressuring, but all year he's been turning it over, making bad decisions and fumbling under pressure.

He's in the same boat as Grimes. Neither is improving their skills and we all are patently aware of how much we need skill.

This club is F U C K E D. Could not care how the rest of the year goes..

Who cares who is drafted or traded because, we will make a meal of it anyway.

Coach killers.. Bail, McKenzie, Terlich, McDonald. Will never be a good side with these 4 in the team..

WTF?

McDonald was good today. Without his spoils today we would've gone down by six more goals.

I would be giving Garland a hard time before Tom.

This is one of the reasons I don't come to 'Land much anymore.

Do you want to actually offer some analysis or a counterpoint, or do you just come here to insult people after a frustrating loss?

Which, in a manner, is what you are now doing. So my analysis of you is that you offer little but lack the understanding that supporters get down after a loss and want to vent. So see ya.

Sorry I never have anything original to add, but I've had enough. Sick to death of the whole thing. Not going to any more games this year. Dunno if I can be bothered renewing my membership. Just sick of being a Melbourne supporter. Kick in the guts every week. Better things to do in this life: read a book, write one. Do the gardening. Watch my local team. Can't convince my kids to come along or take much interest.

Find Demonland the only interesting thing about the game

Was never that excited about Roos. Too defensive (suppose he won a flag being that, but jeez I wish he'd win one for us)

Also feel we've been screwed by the AFL. We bottomed out at the wrong time. They're only interested in the expansion teams, mainly so they can continue to stuff their own bloated wallets. CUBS, the lot of them, from Demetriou down, [censored] in Amani suits.

Us, Dogs, Saints - permanent cellar dwellers.

Apologies for pointless vent. Suppose I'll feel more positive by about February next year.

Agree, McDonald was about our best I thought, under masive pressure all day

He is one player who has continued to improve. Made one error in the third when he tried to take someone on and mucked it up but his spoiling and positioning was terrific all day.

No one here sticking up for Garland? WTF has happened to him?

Was super reliable 3 yrs ago. Then had a lobotomy and forgot how to play footy.

Has sucked big time this year.

That was as bad as it has got for me after 34 years of watching the Dees. I will always support them, but the current group has completely lost me now. Some of the efforts today were deplorable. It all started with Kent, burning his teammates over and over again. Even his second goal, he should've given off. Watts continually leads to the right spots, and his teammates flung hospital handballs over their heads blindly. Absolute joke. We are the only team in the comp who doesn't realise if you don't play on your dead in today's game.

I don't dispute any of that.

Personally I'd keep Blease because the ceiling is higher but time is fast running out. I certainly acknowledge Bail works harder.

Agree.....but he should have given the chip to Dawes in the square.

He took a step forward today I felt. Also feel that it's time to give Mitchie a run in the ones. I'd be tempted to rest Viney.

I'm not fussed by this loss. Unlike other years, the club is in good hands and by getting a first or second draft pick helps us IMO. We keep losing because of the bottom feeders we have on our list.

Tappy

Terlich

McKenzie

Blease

Strauss

Matt Jones

Nicholson

Bail (has had a good year, but a top 8 team would have him as their 25th to 30th players on the list)

Pederson (see Bail)

Therefore there is too much reliance on our usual suspects and players who have had only 1, 2, or 3 years in the list.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
