Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Do you guys reckon he is more suited to forward or back?

I quite like him up forward, I think he's a hugely dangerous matchup and capable of kicking multiple goals

but he also looks a very handy defender at the minute

I like him back as he gets more involved but i would like, for example, against the dogs in the last five minutes ( when a game is in the balance) - swing him forward to jump on everyones head to take a mark and kick a goal.

Certainly looking handy as a back man but I think his best role will be as a utility or swingman between the forward and defensive lines.

Once both settle down, I won't be surprised if that becomes his role week in week out.

When our midfield becomes stronger we will be clearing the ball more often from the center and achieving more inside 50's, without the need for him to float across half back and intercept the large amount coming in.

As a swingman going forward it will make it harder to shut him down as he sneaks in there a few times a game, or alternatively if the game is tight or the defense are getting a work out he will be the first to swing back.

With the way the game is being umpired not to the rules it means it's very hard for Howe to play forward. He was being shepherded illegally off the contest consistently, it seems you can do that in the Evans, Campbell, Kennedy led umpiring fraternity.

Don't worry about the rule book boys we just make em up as we go.

Half back line for me. Can get lost forward with our crappy supply. Using his athleticism to influence the contest is far more important than getting a few touches without damaging up forward. Will grow into the role and be our own Peter Knights/Trevor Barker style high marking backline star.

IMO he is the player we should consider as a trade if a very good midfielder is in the offering.

I will not be the first time bb.

If you want to get a good midfielder you will need to trade.

No one is going to take crap but a reasonable player like Howe might just get it done.

Trade him if we can Gives us nothing another part of the problem

I'm guessing this is a troll. If not, that's a shocking comment.

The OP poses a good question. His good games down back have been very influential. He saves us a fair bit with his marking and if we utilise it more it will be great for setting up more attacks.

On the flip side, I'm sure opposition coaches are happy to see him down back and not in dangerous positions.

Back line. While he has the best hands in the AFL, he gets lost too easily up forward and his goal kicking is terrible. He is much more useful taking intercept marks in defence and has proven to be much more consistent there. Agree with nutbean though that he could be a red-time swing man.

Howes most dangerous position is forward but he gets lazy when he is there, and is far more involved when he is down back

Roos hinted at a different forward set up this week. Probably means Howie may start up there. Worth a try.

When and if we get an A grade midfield, delivering with some aplomb into the forward line, and not haemorrhaging regularly into defence, then Jeremy could well be a very damaging, difficult to match up, goal machine.

His time in defence will serve him and us well however.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
