Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

How was Billy Stretchs game?

Stretch was very good. Ran and linked well off half back and generally kicked the ball very well. There was one passage of play where he mopped up off half back and overcooked the pass slightly, I could hear him yell in frustration from the stands as soon as it left his boot. Think he sets himself a high standard with his kicking. Didn't miss too many more targets after that.

Brayshaw, Petracca and Ahern all looked like they will become good AFL midfielders.

Stretch has started pretty well for SA, touted as a second round father son by Kevin Sheehan, who also proclaimed that as a win for MFC.

He also stated he will be a 200 game player for whoever drafts him.

Ahern was an absolute standout today. He's had a pretty good championship so far, but really pushed himself forward today. Was involved in much of Metro's best passages of play today.

At the moment I still would take Petracca ahead of Brayshaw, and thought the contest between Durdin and Goddard was a ripper. Durdin's my pick of the talls at the moment, but Goddard redeemed himself today after a few anonymous outings. Both took some very good contested marks today.

Would use our 3rd rounder on him without hesitation. We could do with a few tough, small and quick crumbers in the forward line. One JKH just isn't enough (get him a partner in crime).

We'll have to part with our second rounder for Stretch, that is a guarantee, he was up there with O'hearn for the most classy player of the day.

Still not convinced Streth is worth our 2nd rounder or that we'll be required to use it.

Durdin clearly has what it takes to be an elite AFL tall.

Wright is terribly unconvincing.

I get the feeling he'll be comparable to Leuenberger at best, Ayce Cordy or Vickery at worst.

Disappointing to see Pickett not have a great game, but these young kids often have flat spots at some stage.

Doesn't preclude them from being a top performer at the next level.

For that reason I wouldn't discount Hugh Goddard from still being top 5.

Tom Lamb looks like Jarrad Waite 2.0

I think he'll go top 3. Be surprised if he didn't.

I don't think he will, purely based on Lions, Saints and Tigers desperately needing key position players, I reckon, Wright, McCartin and Durdin are the top 3, and Petracca will be 4

Any midfielders from North we could trade for? Atley? Ziebel? Could trade pick 3 for a player and there first rounder so they can take Brayshaw. We take Petrecca, pick 11ish mid and one of Norths mids.

I watched both games yesterday and the players that impressed me the most were:

Vic Metro: Moore, Petracca,, Brayshaw,, Ahern, Cavka,,Laverde, Payne (grandson of Charlie that played for ESS)

Ahern is a very classy half-fwd with very clean hands. Would love this kid.

Cavka has a 16.8 beep test which is unheard of at AFL level.

Laverde was very sound off half back.A good decision maker.

Payne needs to add some weight but has natural football ability and a very accurate kick. Could be a dangerous 3rd tall at afl level..

S.Aust:: Daniel (best on ground but very small 168cm) Dominated the game and could be gettable in 3rd or 4th round. He is not mentioned on BigFooty phantom drafts.

Gregson Captain (Mid)

Johansson (Mid)

Tom Read (developing ruckman 200cm but needs weight.)

Declan Hamilton is the nephew of Andrew and Darren Jarman. Played well with Kevin Sheahan saying that he has inherited some of the Jarman traits.

Stretch is going to be a very good player. We better not stuff this one up. Might have to use a second round pick..

Vic Country: Zero except for Miles and Marchbank. They were certainly not as good as the SA boys.

WA: Were very disappointing. Garlett looked the best to me. Clem Smith seems to have gone backwards from last year.

What about Johansson, he seems to get a lot of the ball,

Looks like he's modelled his game a lot on Boomer Harvey. Takes the game on in the same way, and will have similar knocks on his height, but been very good so far this year.

I'm going to make a bold prediction here but given the events of recent AFL history, the boy Tester who plays for Vic Metro is a perfect fit for the Bombers!!!

It's not like you to make a vial comment.

The final round of the Champs is on today (Foxtel, if you're interested).

Listening to Roos speak on Monday, he said we traded down from 2 because the midfielders available were all smaller types, which we already had.

It makes me think that it isn't a given that we will trade down from an early pick like we did last year. If there is someone worthy of the pick that is either a big midfielder or a genuinely quick player, then we may well keep the pick and draft them.

Surely you're taking the pizz WJ ;) But I have heard he's a fine specimen of a lad.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
