Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

petracca looks more like jordan lewis than fyfe.

and i think he'll go top three.

the much ballyhooed phalanx of talls has failed to arrive at this championships. they all look pretty average.

Wright looks like a long term development pick but I think McCartin is probably the one. Injury interrupted but had some good form as a bottom ager last year.

Petracca is very strong overhead, Brayshaw disappointing today but I did like Gore. Laverde has got some tricks, made some poor decisions at times but showed real class at others.

brayshaw and petracca worked their way into the game, but south australia won the game, and the championships.

some impressive players, including sos.

caleb daniel is tiny but geez he can play.

It was comical watching all the tall skinny kids try to catch the tiny little fella.

I wonder if he's so short that he'd be good because you wouldn't even expect anything in the air from him. And imagine how many high tackles he would get. His shoulders are seriously waist high for taller AFL players.

I'd love to pick him up with our last rookie pick just to see what happened.

Sorry to say it for him but he is too small. 167cm. He won't be able to put on enough weight too not get pushed off the ball. He can play though. I don't think he will get drafted but you never know.

I wouldn't write off durdin. He has broken his thumbs at the wrong time as far as the carnival is concerned. Played 1 game before the carnival. He would have done no football work or weights in the lead up which would have affected has grab on the ball. He played mostly forward today and I think he is a better back.

I would like petracca but I wouldn't be unhappy with Brayshaw. I think petracca might be gone before we get a pick, but both won't be.

I didn't think there was much consistency from most players even in the one game.

Stretch will be robbed if he doesn't get A/A.

Hone performed well and should have had a few more goals but for wayward kicking in the breeze.

Not much taller than Caleb Daniel.

But I don't reckon he'll get drafte, even as a rookie.

Despite getting lots of marks and shots on goal, a player that size will never work at AFL level as a leading marking forward.

He's about 15-20cm shorter than Tim Membrey!

Whoever did the best players for SA and didnt put Gore in there needs to have a good hard look in the mirror...he reminds me a lot of Dunstan from SA last year. A ready to go inside mid from Rnd 1 next year, but will probably be overlooked for what he doesn't do rather than what he does.

Really impressed with Stretch. If Roosy was after some more classy mids, he has one for his taking in Stretch. Rarely wastes a disposal, very clean and composed.

De goey seems to be in the bests alot, what's the go with him

Tall h/f flanker/midfielder. Skilful, good kick and has a bit of aggression.

Has a bit of Mundy about his game, but with a bit of x-factor. Probably ranked in the mid teens at the moment, but like many in that range, could rise with a good finish to the season for Oakleigh.

Agree with this, he looked good to me and may well be a steal at the draft.

I really like Petracca, Laverde, Webb, Stretch and Daniel.

I hope we get at least 3 of them. I really hope we give Caleb Daniel a

chance though, he looked really good today and can play.

I don't think his height will be an issue, he reminds me a lot of Boomer Harvey.

I missed the coverage today, but I just wanted to throw this question out there. I hope I'm not derailing the thread, but would people prefer to take a Petracca with our first pick (if he's there) or trade that pick for Shiel or Treloar (if available and willing)? We know the latter two can perform at AFL level, they'll have three years under their belts and they're plug and plays. I'll trust the FD's decision, but at this stage of our development, I'd be luring a GWS mid.

Trade. Bird in hand is worth two in the bush. Sure Petracca is a bit taller and heavier than those guys and therefore stronger in the air but he's not all that tall when translating to AFL. He's not that fast and whilst he's got himself fit he's probably a few preseasons away from being a midfielder at AFL level. He's good but I think you'd take an almost certain B+ player at worst who's already had a few seasons in to him like Shiel or Treloar rather than the risk on Petracca.

This would be my dream draft plus maybe Ahern (Vic M).or Howe (SA).

Brayshaw had a shocker yesterday. Never imposed himself and lacked composure in the few possessions he had. Not in the same class as Petracca. I hope we don't draft Brayshaw.

Caleb Daniel will be a cult figure whoever drafts him. Please let it be us. This kid can really play and be could unstoppable as a small forward/midfielder. .

Yes Daniel looked good but he is only giving away 5-10kg to the opposition at U/18level at AFL level being 67kg he will be giving away 15-25 kg to midfielders. He may not come into direct contact with the big bodied key position players but IMO he still has a lot of work to do in the gym to make it at the next level

May get rookied

Hone plays as a small forward.

I know.

But the vast majority of his touches and goals have come from leading and marking in the F50, not from crumbing.

He plays like he thinks he's a tall forward.

He might get away with it at junior level, but...

Two sons of former Demons there in Billy Stretch and Darcy Moore. I also wonder if Darcy Parish is related to the late Les "Salty" Parish better known as Fitzroy player who transferred to Melbourne from North Melbourne late in his career.

The way things are going we could have three of those players if we finish low enough (I'm not suggesting anything, nor am I trying to be funny) and we lost James Frawley with a 1st round draft selection as compo.

If that happened we could take Brayshaw, Petracca and Stretch (f/s) - all different types of midfielders to give us a boost in an area where we are slowly improving.

While he didn't make the All - Aust teamTom Lamb who played for Vic Country is the son of Wayne Lamb who played a handful of games for the Dess in the early 90's before moving to Fitzroy. Tipped to go first round if not top 10.

I'd be happy if we got one of Brayshaw/Petracca, Stretch and an established midfielder with some experience under their belt that could help our midfield immediately, giving further support and allowing those younger types a little more time to develop than being thrown into the deep end, something Roos has said he doesn't like doing. If we could do THAT, then we would be seriously going places.

Brayshaw would want to show a lot more than he did yesterday for me to be happy with giving away a top pick.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
