Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

As much as I find great joy as an avid demon supporter about the sort of accolades we are receiving from our recent wins over the Bombers and Adelaide, and the sterling effort against Port, we are not quite there yet in gaining the AFL community respect..

We are still at the point where of the total tipsters' views in the Age and HS for Sunday's game against EFC, I think there were 3 out of about 40 who tipped the Dees. Whilst this matters not at all in terms of the outcome, it does indicate the respect we have gain from those experts in the game.

I think we can say we have gained back respect when we are criticized for winning ugly, and for losing narrowly. I know this will only come when we are genuine contenders for the 8, but it would be nice to transition from gallant triers to genuine threats.

Having said that, the transition this year has been quite remarkable and I have no doubt whatsoever that respect will come in the next 12 months. Can't wait to observe it.

I'm just enjoying the journey.

You have to crawl well before you walk; and walk well before you can run.

When you hear more crying in relation to Roos' gameplan "destroying" footy, that should correlate to us being more than competitive.

Well, the reality is that going into the match we were equal-last.

Yeah, we've improved, but we're still a bottom-8 side. Going up against a top-8 side, unless it's a MASSIVE upset, it won't get the respect.

IMO, consistency is key. We have the consistency in many areas, except winning.

We lost winnable games against the Saints, Giants and Suns. Admittedly we are more cohesive as a team now. We need a big scalp.

We should have beaten fricken port Adelaide... That would've been a scalp!!

Yes and no, Port showed on Saturday they are a force, we had out chances but in they end were shown how it's done. Fair to say we may have learnt a bit from that .

Yes, and what has come out recently was that Roos was apparently unbelievably rope able after that game. Gave the players the biggest bake of their lives apparently. Clearly Roosy for all his public charm is an incredibly tough nut. It will do the players no harm for that to happen. Clearly also, he saw how a win over Port would have elevated us up to that "being taken seriously" level, much much earlier than anyone, including him could have expected.

I think it is great when our great coach shows such passion, and love for the red and the blue. We are truly blessed to have such a leader....

I honestly think if we'd have taken 2 of our 4 chances early in the 4th qtr we would have won it. Either way we didn't but it was an important lesson.

When we:

  • Get a friday game
  • Other clubs' supporters look at our emblem in their fixture and think like I do most of the time: "[censored]'
  • Other teams 'just want to stay competitive against us'
  • Commentators rub out the constant negative messages and cheap shots

etc

Playing four quarters like Sunday's last 90 seconds would attract a bit of attention I reckon.

How did Collingwood look this week.

I reckon the Bulldogs should be thanking us for the win

Hard to come up 6 days after playing the Demons now

The less media on us the better. For too long we have been propped up during the off season only to fall flat on round 1 and underperform for the remainder of the season. I'd rather us make the finals in a couple of years and have he media say wow where did Melbourne come from.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
