Second week in a row he has blamed the umps for the loss.

Says Robinson was deprived of getting the ball when the Geelong runner touched him. Should have got a free. Only problem is the umpire was holding the ball ready to bounce, time on was going and umpire looked around to see what happened. The umpire did not then bounce the ball and call time back on until the incident was over and Robinson was in position. How then Mick did that prevent Robinson get the ball when it was not even in play? Whinge or deliberate lie Mick, what is it.

Next he picks the Menzel passage against Rivers. On the 7 replayed angles I saw Menzel grabs the ball and ducks clearly into Rivers who is waiting to tackle him. Menzel created the situation and the rule is play on or holding the ball when a player deliberately ducks for the free. Umpire got it completely correct.

Again Mick is it just a whinge or a deliberate lie?

MM is clearly feeling the pressure. IMO opinion he is coaching purely to get the record from Jock McHale and needs a 1 year extension to get it.

His behaviour to me is pathetic and disgusting and nearly all journos would agree.

Add to that Redleg Geelong got a couple of shockers by the ump in the last ten minutes of the last quarter.

What happened when Hawkins was kicking for goal.

Ump called play on as he was moving in to kick, no one seemed have heard / seen a warning to get on with it or when Daisy Thomas knocked the ball loose after the Geelong player marked in the forward line,.

Either one should have been goals.

I think Mick has selective vision.

Agree. He and Carlton deserve each other.

Agree redleg. Funny he missed that geelong were dudded by the umpire calling play on on hawkins. His press conferences used to be witty and spread with only disdain if asked a ridiculous question. Now he speaks to any journalist like they are a farmdog. I would say that he should focus on updating his tactics and regenerating a playing list that are showing signs of poor fitness and second rate skills, rather than critisizing umpires who had 30 players spread around the ball.

Are we so different?

Roo's took a swipe at the umpires after the bulldogs game. Many on demonland went ape [censored].

We won the free kick count 24 to 13 yet posters on here blamed the umpires.

Sure Malthouse having a weekly sook is irritating, but what pi$$e$ me off more, is the bloody Scott twins. Whenever they think their teams have been aggrieved, they always swing around in their chairs, arms raised and mouths wide open.

Worthy of academy awards those two.

I am talking about the Coach not forum posters.

Roos queried 1 free kick and didn't suggest it cost us the game.

MM has done it 2 weeks in a row highlighting a number of frees, basically implying that umpire mistakes cost the Blues 2 games.

That is a bit different.

Unfortunately because bruce, dennis, leigh, wayne and richo were fawning over the tomaaaahawk channel bruce missed the actual event.

Umpires dont normally call "play on" in this situation unless its warranted.

But at the game winning/losing moment we were listening to 5 men talk chit instead of hearing the ump maybe giving 1st 2nd and play on warnings.

I think one of them is worse than the other, but can't recall which. I reckon it is very unprofessional - they are behaving like one-eyed supporters rather than a coaches.

Just because the umpires were consistent in not paying frees doesnt mean they did a good job. The wireless says only 14 frees were paid all night.

I dont really care that Carlton were ripped off and my dislike for the Scott twins is double my distaste of Malthouse, the umpiring this year has gone quickly to ratsh1t.

Wayne Campbell is struggling.

I thought Malthouse was right in particular to bring up the Nigel Lappin incident, trainers should be nailed much more for interfering, and if I ran the world they would only be allowed on after goals are registered and need to be off before the bounce.

Him and his boss Evans who seems to be getting a free kick from the media. One of the boys. The umpiring is at the stage where you now toss a coin to see which way the decision will go, that's if they bother to blow the whistle.

Absolutely. Friday night commentary is terrible. Dennis is slowly losing what made him unique, leigh matthews explains things in a manner similar to floyd mayweathers character on family guy, carey is alright but bruce just makes me cringe.

Our game is impossible to umpire - we'll never even get close to getting it right.

The same old issues for what, over 100 years? They'll never fix it - every part of our game is a grey area with each decision having about 6 outcomes ... that's on top of varying degrees of biased supporters. Even a lot of the neutrals are baffled most of the time.

Just accept it for what it is. A total mish-mash where no one knows what the hell is going on.

Try explaining the rules to an overseas visitor - the white coat people will be needed within 10 minutes. For both you and the overseas visitor :-)

Wayne Campbell has actually come out and said the Menzel one should have been paid, for what it's worth.

Well then I know HE doesn't know the rules. You are not allowed to duck and he clearly ducked trying to deliberately get a free. Besides that I don't believe Rivers infringed.

Massive whinger. How about you bring up the dodgy decisions that went your way in the game Mick. And there were plenty of them.

Malthouse has been a huge flop for Carlton, he's had two cracks at the trade and draft table and their key position stocks still don't look any good

Malthouse is an intense character, no doubt about that, but he is exactly what Carlton need right now. They should resign him for another 2 years right now. He needs to turn that list over but until his contract is renewed that won't happen. I bet Richmond would look at him.

sure, but 2 weeks in a row is something I haven't seen before

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
