A few weeks ago after they beat us, and more impressively, Sydney - we were all lamenting the free ride they got with their concessions and how they would be a power team.

They get flogged and they are a debacle on the precipice of failing as a club?

Pls.

The got too many kids and wasted money on the $6m man. GC did not just get kids and spent their money on the best player I have ever seen.

And 'the experiment' will continue.

You can howl at the moon all you like - they are not going anywhere.

We don't need a PP.

Lions were one of the big ones going off about us getting a PP, they need one but i'll use the line they wanted to pull on us, "They got themselves in this mess"

The GWS problem isn't draft picks, it's the mature blokes, like ffs they brought in Heath Shaw as a "mature" player and slotted him straight in the leadership group and let Riewoldt kick 11 on him, i'll give him the benefit of the doubt he never should have had to play on him, it's that moron Leon Cameron's fault.

I don't think you understand. the PPick would be useful to trade out, to bring a mature player onto our list. Or we could use the PP in the draft, & trade our first pick for a maturing player? Like the talk has been for compo' pick for hypothetically losing Frawley to free agency.

Hypothetically, we could end up with say, picks 2, 5, & 6. we trade either of P2, or P5 for a mature player & another later pick.

..... leaving us with a Player & 2 picks inside the top 10, & possibly another inside the top 20?.. before our 2nd Rnd pick.

You're right but it's therapeutic to stick the boots in. Don't spoil our fun.

May failure follow Scully until his last days in the game.

Which will be at the end of this contract I u would think. Unless GWS see potential in him and offer another 6 yr contract!!

Dee L, GWS gets three men and a dog to their games and the Afl are happy to prop them up to the end of time. I'm also not entirely convinced that the two sports can't co exist.

I definately think Aussie Rules & Rugby League can co-exist in Sydney. but it will take time.

The West is a new & foreign marketplace where soccer is part of the family heritage, of a lot of the new Western Sydney locals. We have to try to incorporate them into our culture.

Expansion sides are always going to have alot of young talent but the suns recruited players to set standards and examples for them the giants have failed because sheedys ego meant he had to do it his way and it hadn't worked.

Suns paid the big bucks and got Ablett.

Giants paid the big bucks and got Scully.

Callan Ward is five times a better leader and player than Scully. He got duped on his salary and the Dogs got screwed with compensation.

Dee - Luded, you are on the money. I should also add that I will be always coloured in my view of GWS because of the firm of Phat Phil and Son.

Actually I saw him getting attention on the bench and it appeared he had received a poke in the eye and was having trouble with vision.

so were the Bears. they came good.

If we're not in it, we sacrifice it to soccer without a fight, & other sports.

Tassy has already established communities of footy, & there isn't much money to be received by the team that would be down there, Re sponsors etc, to run the club successfully.

So who is going to merge with GWS for them to come good and how are the Bears going now?

Not saying the idea was wrong but they have gone about it the wrong way and it will take a few back flips to fix it. They tried this year by bringing in some senior heads but with the exception of Mumford they got it wrong again. Shaw, Addison and Hunt were all Bearslike recruits.

They are really light on for experience in the coaching department and we know how well that doesn't work. Seemed like a good idea to bring in these player/coaches at the time, it's a failure. They need experienced heads.

How good would it be to be a fly on the wall when they talk renewed contract with Valdermort. I'm imagining them sliding a piece of paper over the table with two less zeros and Phat Phil suggesting there's been a typo. "And Phatty, we also thought that, rather than $100, 000 to simply google big footy, how about two felafels and a slab per game?"

You're right 'Robbie', he was getting attention for something like that or maybe even a concussion.

Kelly is going to be a very good player, we don't need to justify our trading by running him down. The jury is in as far as I'm concerned, we've done well out of the deal.

me too.

... but I won't hold it against the Giants club, as I want the AFL to succeed up North. but I blame the skunk who left his home in a stink.

Suns paid the big bucks and got Ablett.

Giants paid the big bucks and got Scully.

Callan Ward is five times a better leader and player than Scully. He got duped on his salary and the Dogs got screwed with compensation.

And this is why sulky could be seen as a curse up there. they should offload him asap, take their medicine & improve.

It's all a bit of a waste of breath really.

(1)Even if GWS realize they have paid the little [censored] too much the damage is done - he has pocketed a shite load.

(2) Even if the AFL believe they may have [censored] up with the GWS experiment, the damage is done. They will not back off and will continue to pour zillions into GWS for evermore.

I think there's playing for the love of it and playing for money and some of the senior players they've recruited seem to me to be in the latter group, trying to squeeze one or two more years out of it.

.... why the bears did the Ugly duckling thing, turned into Lions & won 3 silver cups. they have to rejig after some really ordinary decisions made by their Suits, after they're power period. just like other teams have.

Its taken Us 50 years, & now only after the AFL stepped up to our plate.

------------------------

Have a listen to the atmosphere in the New Adelaide Colosseum. some good direction, from the new admin for the Power, & they have ignited.

one of Our areas of fault, is the supporters haven't been involved enough with the club over the past 50 years, so IMO most of the loud & proud passionate ones, who would have been Demons, have grown up following other Clubs, where they feel more involved, & accepted by, & into the fold. Not locked out.

& so, we've been left only with the conservative ones over Yonder & the rest of Us rusted on ones. with little noise to sing about. only polite applause please.

Even better if they don't offer either of the leeches a contract.

Wish I had a son whose team I could manipulate to get me a job.

What a disgrace.

I have never felt "locked out" of the MFC DL.

we were just dumb in the late 60's & 70's. Other clubs overtook us.

we've never had social facilities WYL. but we at the least could get into the rooms pre, game & after game for a little while. before those who designed the northern Stand took the players race away from the MFC members & kids.

But really since the 80's, we had a chance to capitalise on the new successes of the 80's/90's, but still no social facility to make a club.

Here that passion WYL, from the Port people. these are people who are connected to their Club, Territory, Passion, they feel they belong, they love the club, & I'm sure they will go back to celebrate to. Thats the old Port thing. they've been waiting for the place to fire up.

we have always had our supporters separated by fences, by walls, & by gates. & which ticket is in your pocket.

    TRAINING: Wednesday 19th February 2025

Demonlander The Analyser was the sole Trackwatcher out at Casey Fields today to bring you the following observations from this mornings preseason training session. Training  was at Casey today. It consisted of a match simulation for one half  and then a free choice activity time. Activities included kicking for goal,  aerial , contest work etc. I noticed the following players not in match simulation Jack Viney  running laps and looks fine for round one . I think Kolt looks like he’s im

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
