If Viney didn't brace himself for the contact the way he did, he would've left the field on a stretcher.

Showing a 'duty of care' works both ways and when you've got over 90 kegs of muscle coming your way at full speed, surely you should be entitled to protect yourself.

Any chance they have played some footy?

Probably a bunch of top end of Collins street wankers in suits that have never stepped on a footy field cos they were too scared to get some mud on their shorts

Not in Box Hill either, but a shirt full of broken ribs hurt no matter where you played.

Rjay, re Box Hill, still remember an unfortunate collision in under 17's with Alle Dewolde where I never saw him coming, last home and away game of the year I think. Had issues with sore ribs and lower back for several years after. I said at the time it should have bypassed the MRP and gone straight to the tribunal!

Lynch's evidence may be something like

"I wath approthing the fooball when I thaw Viney coming and then I thaw oh thit and then I don't remember anything"

I hope he has learnt from his big mistake.

Poor kid - will probably play like Morton for the rest of his career.

With a 70 year old tweed wearing pipe-smoking MCC member lawyer in our back pocket, Viney will get off surely.

MRP - video sounded positive + with all this media they might be forced to drop this one.

I like Matt Thompson - reports the facts nothing else and is unbiased (a rare quality in the world of media)

Tom Lynch is 192 centimeters.

Jack Viney is 178.

Viney doesn't leave the ground.

Well A) very happy, but hardly surprised, to hear that we'll be fighting this one. Roos definitely didn't want to give much away but clearly we reckon we can defend this one. B) it was heartening to hear that all opinions are leading towards our favour, apart from Healey initially thinking Viney was in trouble and recanting pretty much everyone agrees that Jack had no better alternatives.

Lynch was 192cm but a certain body part shrunk to the size of a bee when he saw Viney coming.

Thanks Carey, at best, this is not clear cut. Would be totally unjust to proceed with this.

Probably not the right time to say it but I still cant get over how Viney just bounced back up and attacked the contest again. The guy should be talked up next to Joel Selwood Luke Hodge in terms of toughness and courage. Just as courageous as those two.

If Lynch was wearing a helmet cam it would have looked something like this:

Its a sad day for football if he goes for that. I would like an explanation as to what a player is meant to do in that situation. The only options other than what he did would be not make the ball your objective or dont protect yourself whilst trying to make ball your objective.

Do they want the player to drop to the ground (as if there's a sniper) to avoid contact?

    TRAINING: Monday 16th December 2024

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
