The only play that let me down was Frawley. He's part of that Bailey era core group that has major lapses and just doesn't work hard enough at times. He sometimes (always) has the judgement of a backman when playing forward. That kick out on the full just can't happen.

Byrnes did his bit but look forward to seeing Kent back in the side.

Need a bloke like Byrnes in the side, just not sure Byrnes is that guy. I'd rather Kent, Toumpas, or even....Nicholson *runs and hides*

I wouldn't mind seeing Salem play a full game in the forward pocket he has great goal sense looks a genuine goal kicking mid to me

Jamar s mark was huge in the context of the game, and his presence in general was really important.

How handy will he be if he gets back to his all Australian form?

So Demonland posters what about Terlich still worried about his Kicking Some here have no idea

Uhm yes, I for one am. He still needs to improve that side of his game, it doesn't happen over night and he had some poor kicks again last night. Don't let the green go to your head J.

Think he did alright yesterday though, better than the week before. Needs to clean his kicking up and he will be a gun

I'm watching the game again, as we speak (type) and the man crush on Dawes continues.

Leader, brute, competitive beast.

Also, Pedo is going alright.

I would make one change....Byrne's time is up.

Agreed - I have been calling for Byrnes to be dropped for a while but there really wasn't anyone to bring in.

I think we will see either one or no changes - no changes would be a big statement from Roo's. Would show he backs this group of players.

As much as I would love Roos to make that statement I would also like to see a few play AFL: Garland, Gawn, Riley, Kent, Toumpas, Strauss/Clisby,

We still have AFL quality players to come in but how many people can you drop after a game like that?

Roos did say Georgiou was tired after 7 rounds (big step up from SNAFL or whatever) - so that could be a change without emission (call it rest).

Outs:

Georgiou - rest

Byrnes - for the simple fact we have better players

Ins:

Garland - providing he shows form at casey

Riley/Kent/Toumpas - depending on VFL form

Tempting to also bring in Strauss/Clisby so Howe can go back to the forward - for a game where we expect to get decent i50's and now have 2 key forwards (Howe would now be the 3rd tall)

Forgot to mention Nev Jetta. 10 out of 10. The unsung hero yesterday.

Jetta and Grimes both played their best games for the club I thought. Terlich was very good as well, sometimes his disposal lets him down but he rarely makes wrong decisions, his attack on the contest is great also.

What was wrong with Frawley last night?he had a shocker clearly our worst

Probably thinking of his new contract at the Hawks!!!

Mind is not on the job IMO.

just broken into quarters mate for ease of watching. but its much better to watch

Ok thats good - its amazing that you can't skip through the video on the AFL website (apart from skipping to goals - sometimes there are only 1-2 goals a quarter)

how good is it waking up today reading the papers about our win. Also for once in a while im watching game day and the footy show. Should be a very happy Roos tomorrow night on afl 360.

If you have an Ipad get the AFL app. Best $89 bucks I've spent in a long time. All games live and the replays broken down into quarters. I had to go out last night and was able to watch parts of the last quarter whilst I was having a shower. Missed nothing.

I love watching how he goes about it, the older school head over it and goes type, I cringe when he actually gets it but again it is on the improve and great to see.

He'll downplay it. 'Encouraging, but a long way to go' etc.

That said, there's no one I love more in Australia than Paul Roos.

Sincere apologies to Henry, my one year old son.

Pedersen is genuinely in our best 22 now.

He was fantastic yesterday. The best gravedigger in the league.

JKH - how good is he?!

yep agree with that.

and we nearly blew it,is good for the team to understand calmness in tight situations.

PR.shut the game down and see who wins a dogfight, suits some of our players and certainly doesnt suit some oppo players.

thats why under his regime the gravediggers flourish.

Lets not get ahead of ourselves a Gutsy win by our Finger tips . I dont want to rain on the parade but still plenty of bad habits to get rid of

After last weeks Game I said the positive was we no longer capitulate.

Today's game proved that in Spades !

For now I am happy and ecstatic about the win and we all should be so . Lets just hope there are more before seasons end and I will dine out on each and everyone of them . But for now the change is happening lets enjoy the ride both the ups and downs in the knowledge that maybe we have finally turned the corner and seasons need no longer be like having teeth drawn!

I say let's get ahead of ourselves, way ahead of ourselves. What's it matter? Already pencilled us in as cents v bullies and Tiges.

If chip is out I expect it will be Garland in and Dunn forward.

You may be right brfe. Gee, Arland would come in underdone though.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
