did I just read right? up to $1.4Mill a season? not sure about that...

however, >

# a strong big bodied mid with burst speed away from the contest. Danger, or? or will Howe & Watts do the trick around the wings & thru the guts???

# a very tall power forward, Patton or Boyd, or Tex Walker... trade with the giants? Chip for a tall forward? would Chip sign on for one? Or would he stay a one clubber?

# a classy quick stocky small with power & weight. Prestia type.

Thought i's see how we tracked after 7 rounds last year.

After 7 rounds in 2013 : Points for : 525 Points Against: 954

After 7 rounds in 2014: Points for: 395 Points Against: 550

Difference: Points for : - 130 (21.6 less goals kicked by us than same time last year)

Points Against: +404 (67.3 less goals kicked against us than same time last year)

Wow.

consistency, got to be the basis for a strong foundation & belief. & respect from other teams.

Wow!!! Dawes is an A grader - no argument! Bernie Vince top game but also an aggressive little [censored] - loved the way he stuck elbows into his former teammates.

Now here's the thing. Can we rattle cups, run raffles, prostitute our wives, whatever is needed to to pay Paul Roos ridiculous amounts of money to stay with the MFC.

The two Crouch boys will be good, was the elder one playing today (he bald one) didn't notice him?

No Brad today he's another class footballer at Adelaide. Matt was playing and had patches of form and is already a ball magnet but gee he's hard to look at. They've done something to his physique and his face is yuck. Also is a bit reckless in his disposal, he'll be a very good midfield accumulator but probably the type of player you only need one of.

Whats the story with Roos having a coffee with Tex? surely thats a beat up?

Mind you he's top mates with both Clisby and Vince and we have a bit of room in the cap...

But surely Adelaide can't let another top line player slip away...

well If Chip is certain about a change, & wants big $$$$$$ ?

green-recycling-symbol-15695748.jpg

1/ what about Tex Walker or Patton to us ?... 2/ if Walker,,, Patton could go to Crows, or vica-verca? Chip to Giants $$$$$$ ?

Yeah Brad's the one who will be very very good (was a mini-draft pick).

Matt is the one my brother said had a face like a dropped meat pie.

That's unfortunate...

I think your brother's being a little harsh on the meat pie.

Their were rumours Matt told Melbourne he didn't want to play for us and for us not to draft him. Whilst he looks like a very talented kid I think he can enjoy Adelaide's player development and coaching and we'll be ok with Roosy.

JKH's timing was exquisite.

He timed his as third man in at the contest sublimely.

Maybe. I hope not, but then again it will be worth the weeks to make sure the message is sent out loud and clear: it's his ball so get between him and it at your own risk.

Every other player on the team will walk taller and feel bulletproof when he is around.

In real time, it happened so quickly. Lynch was going down. Viney should be ok

Yep and the thing is Viney was bolting to the footy, hit the contest and ultimately won possession. He was attacking the footy at a manic pace so once it was clear Lynh would take possession he had only three options 1) bump 2) try and tackle the two far bigger guys coming at him and likely injure himself or 3) jump out of the way. He did the only sensible thing which was brace his body for contact.

We now have the seventh best rated defence with points scored against.

Sorry if this has been mentioned but if Frawley wants $800,000 per year then kicking out of bounds on the full, deep in defence with the game on the line is not a good way of going about it.

agree with that

the game was nearly iced and he found a a way to do the absolute worst thing possible to keep it alive, couldn't believe what i was seeeing

earlier in the match he shanked a 15m pass under zero pressure that put tommy mac in the crosshairs, no excuse for that

he either doesnt want to be at the club or he is just no good

What an absolutely terrific effort. Well done, fellas. Dawes was massive. Tyson and Viney were 'super important'. Jetta killed Betts. Vince was solid and JKH really showed he's up to speed with the game now. Oh and our young fella, Salem still looks the goods.

EDIT. Credit should go to Jamar too. I thought his career was over. Perhaps, I was wrong?

What an absolutely outstanding win! I still cannot believe it, not just winning away from home but in Adelaide where we have hardly looked like winning in 13 years, with the umpires doing everything they could to get the home team over the line and 45,000 fans roaring their side home.

To stand up to all of that and hang on for the win must do wonders for the belief of the group.

Obviously the first half was tremendous, but the key to the win in the second half (when Adelaide were the superior side) was not letting them kick multiple goals in quick succession. So many times in the past you'd see Melbourne concede 5 or 6 goals in 10 minutes and we would be blown away in that short period. Yes the crows dominated the second half but we kept fighting and scrapping and made it hard for them and while they ate away at the lead they could only do so slowly.

I said it after the GC game but the thing I admired about the swans under Roos was the way they'd not concede too many goals and just hang in there while the other team had momentum. It's early days but we are showing some preliminary signs of that.

I was convinced they were going to steal it late but we just held on with so much spirit and effort. Even with 20 seconds left I thought they would get a free kick and nick it but Bernie won the clearance and that was it.

Still cannot believe it, the Demons have beaten the Crows in SA, all I can say is wow! Fantastic effort

A poster (citydee) said in another thread that "we would win"

My response was "look I can c pigs flying"

Well I am happy to report "THE SKY IS FULL OF FLYING PIGS"

O the joy

It's easy being negative on here though isn't it. Blokes blow up about everything when we're losing, but when we win everything is ok and no one gets pulled up on it because we're happy.

It's a win/win, but the easy option.

He's a quick study, and a totally natural footballer. A big get!

We watched the game at a pub in Richmond and it was great actually having other teams supporters cheering us on. Also a fairly decent rendition of the song rang loud and proud throughout the pub after the game :D

It amazing how much better Roos is at picking the team than we at Demonland.

No wonder he is getting the big $$$$ worth very penny.

Funny that ;-)

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
