I don't think it is news that he was moved on, rather than the other way around.

It's tough to disengage yourself if you have been there long enough.

I don't see him in a different light because of a 'slip' like that.

I love him for sticking up for Jack by the way...

Pretty normal to be honest if you have been at a club a long time. Actually any place such as school, work etc you and take ownership of what happened there. Given his efforts for us this year I'm very happy to have him.

I agree. Its just like when you change jobs. When telling a story or a recall to your new workmates you might accidentally refer to your old place of employment as we or us. As time passes he will lose the habit, and melbourne will be his club entirely.

Love Bernie. We would be worse without him, easily.

I agree. Don't care if he still loves Adelaide either, if he does, so long as he busts a gut when wearing a Melbourne jumper, and he does. I'd be staggered if blokes like he and Cross didn't still have their hearts at their old clubs to some degree.

Nice to have fresh faced Bernie and his pinpoint kicks in our team.

He is a breath of fresh air .

It's natural for him to love the club and the guys he played with for 9 years and I'd expect Cross to be in the same boat.

As long as they give their all while they're in the red and blue, it's forgiven.

Absolutely, and they both certainly have been giving all, as they are 2 blokes of great integrity. Our blokes are hopefully learning a heap from them.

Let's remember this when we criticise guys like Cameron Bruce and Jeff Farmer. You never forget where you came from...unless you're Tom Scully of course, in which case you can pay people to remember for you.

I do this from time to time with my wife, calling her the ex's name... She still loves me, I think.

The OP wants to know if you love your current wife, though. I think.

You play 100% for the club you are now doesn't mean you have to give up your past...

Cross will remember himself as a bulldog and Vince may (due to age) remember himself as a crow or dee but rivers will always be a dee so will Bruce and McDonald... No one remembers Brenton's as a swan or pie only a hawk...

The only disappointment about Bernie is we gave up a pick which is the same issue with Dawes!!!

We have players taken off us for nothing but have to give up picks to get players... In the end Colin for Bernie is great value but one club gave up nothing the other gave up a comp pick!!!

Se thing shat me with Dawes he gets paid 250k a year at collingwood and we have to offer 550k to get him but then give a pick in the 20s... Grrrr to free agency

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi
