GAME DAY - Round 6

We are still SO inexperienced!

When was the last time we had the oldest or most experienced list in the competition? And when will it happen again I wonder?

I wouldnt want to be the oldest but we sure lack experience against most except the newbies like GWS who on paper we should have knocked over if experience counted for anything.

This wont change soon until we find quality ins for some gaping holes chook. How long is a piece of string is the answer i guess.

Really?

When has Buddy ever kicked a bag against Melbourne?

Frawley and Garland have always had his measure.

Yes but Frawley may play forward and Garland is playing for the Scorpions!

Good, Salem should be the sub. The onus is on him when he does get his run to prove everyone wrong. Good first up lesson to earn his spot. Not like the diva like debuts of Scully and Trengove etc.

Subs have been named.

Melbourne - Christian Salem

Sydney - Adam Goodes

Shocking move, good enough to get a game good enough to start. Shannon Byrnes should have been sub, just watch for him, Turnovers Terlich,or Nev Jetta to be subbed of IMO

This is my fourth game in 6 days.I've seen the very best (Hawks cats) and anzac daline. Which was high intensity and commitment to the contest. I saW us against the suns, where application and intensity would have got us over the line. I just want intensity for the whole game. And yes, that means you JW. I really hope I can post about him winning the contested 50/50 ball ... Don't reckon we'll win, but effort will get us close.

Strongly disagree with you there. Bringing in a first gamer later in the match after the heat has died out is a great move. Lets him play freely, safe in the knowledge that he'll be able to run the game out.

Anyone just see Bernie Vince on the SNF lie detector test? Failed miserably

Obviously it's just a bit of a laugh (I hope) because they aren't an exact science, but here's a few of the nuggets:

- He said he wasn't the best looking guy at the club (lie)

- He said he thinks Melbourne can make the finals (lie)

- He said Melbourne blokes were better than the blokes at his old club (lie)

- He said he'd rather be here in Melbourne than back in Adelaide (lie)

- He said if he could have any pick of any club to come to, he would have picked Melbourne (lie)

He did say he loved Taylor Walker though, and that was unsurprisingly true. Go figure

Watts in the warm up. Taking over head marks with a bloke wacking him with a jumping bag.

Saw him in the rooms last week after their team meeting. He looked genuinely broken. I do wonder if he got a spray for his arm waving and playing for free kicks. A lot of players look dejected, but jw more so than usual. Hopefully he got a spray and comes out tonight and plays the ball from start to finish.

LIVE AND LET DIE by Meggs

The Demons’ impressive late season charge to finals will most likely come unstuck this Saturday evening when the Bombers blow up the also-ran Blues in the Ikon Park double-header.   To mangle McCartney, what does it matter to ya? To have any chance to play next week Narrm has got a job to do and needs to do it well.  We’ve got to give the Pie sheilas hell, say live and let die! It’s Indigenous Round for this game and the chance to celebrate and engage with Aboriginal and Torres

2024 Player Reviews: #35 Harry Petty

Failed to fulfill the promise of his breakout six goal effort against the Tigers in 2023 and was generally disappointing as a key forward. It remains to be seen whether Simon Goodwin will persevere with him in attack or return him to the backline where he was an important cog in the club’s 2021 premiership success. 2024 Player Reviews: #22 Blake Howes

After a bright start to the season, playing mostly in defence, Howes seemed to lose his way in midseason but fought back with some good performances at Casey and finished the year back at AFL level. One to watch in 2024. Date of Birth: 7 March 2003 Height: 191cm Games MFC 2024: 15 Career Total:  15 Goals MFC 2024: 0 Career Total:  0 Games CDFC 2024: 6 Goals CDFC 2024: 0

2024 Player Reviews: #33 Tom Fullarton

Originally an NBL basketballer with the Brisbane Bullets, he moved across town in 2019 to the AFL Lions where he played 19 games before crossing to Melbourne where he was expected to fill a role as a back up ruckman/key forward. Unfortunately, didn’t quite get there although he did finish equal sixth in Casey’s best and fairest award. Date of Birth: 23 February 1999 Height: 198cm Games CDFC: 14 Goals CDFL: 13

2024 Player Reviews: #10 Angus Brayshaw

Sadly, had to wrap up a great career in midstream on the back of multiple concussions which culminated in the Maynard hit in the 2023 Qualifying Final. His loss to the club was inestimable over and above his on field talent given his character and leadership qualities, all of which have been sorely missed. 2024 Player Reviews: #40 Taj Woewodin

The son of former Demon Brownlow Medalist Shane, Taj added a further 16 games to his overall tally of games but a number were as substitute. He is slowly fitting into the team structure but without doing anything spectacular and needs to take further steps forward in 2025 for his career to progress.
