Players to target at the end of the year

Because we'd most likely be offering picks 2 & 3 for Cameron & O'Rourke, or something similar.

A high pick alone probably won't do it for GWS and Cameron is under contract.

It's not rocket science.

For starters don't think we will have pick 2. GWS want Petracca. They will forfeit the game to us.

I can see it now. "Sorry we thought the game was in New Guinea and we are all here by the pool."

I think we will finish 16th on 5 wins and Frawley will go.

Thats pick 3 & 4.

Keep one for young gun and trade the other.

WE NEED HOPE. MY HOPE INDICATOR NEEDS BOOSTING AS IT HAS DROPPED DRAMATICALLY AFTER THE LIONS GAME. OUR STYLE OF PLAY & SKILLS WAS UGLY.

Well this may help you.

We lost to Port by a kick in Adelaide. We had no forward line and copped a few bad umpire decisions. Pies beat Port by a kick at the G and everyone says how good the Pies are and that they are back. Yes we had a bad one against the Lions but we have lost 7 games by under 24 points this year and several where we were leading with minutes to go.

Hayden Crozier from Freo might be somebody worth looking at??

Former pick 20 from Rowville. Some elite athleticism. Could replace Howe as the mid height high half forward. 3 years in system. Getting some OK WAFL numbers.

Have you seen him recently Pennant St Dee?? Any thoughts

After having 38 disposals and 2 goals 5 on the weekend it would seem we and other clubs are interested in Lyons again

And he has admitted he may have to leave for opportunity

IF, if Chip goes, I'd like Roosy to trade one high pick and use the other on Petracca or Brayshaw. But... if we finish the year poorly, which may well happen, I wouldn't be surprised if he traded both high picks for established mids. We need quality input now, not in 3, 4, 5 years. The urgency is increasing. We don't have the leadership to develop a pack of young guys. Let another club develop them, cause we can't. Trade for immediacy, while we have the double high pick currency.

Roosy does well with 25-27 year olds who have been moved on.

I have noticed he doesn't burn the kids but tries to get more from older guys.

I think of Jolly, nick Davis ,Schneider ,Hall in that flag year.

He formed that team quite swiftly- which is what we need to do.

Let the rich clubs develop the teens.

These days of high player turnover require shorter contracts.

... Ricky Petterd? Oh he was moved on by us.

(Agreed with the call at the time)

Only seen Crozier once this year very hard to judge what I call a vanilla footballer, decent accumulator most weeks but you never see anything eyecatching or outstanding.

Very robotic in his movements and I suppose when I saw him the bonus was he played a link role through the middle/wing. Never left his opponent more than 5metres away when opposition were in possession, but breaks very quickly to space when the ball is turned over looking for the outlet to rebound. Very well drilled team player who plays to instruction well but totally different player to the natural free flowing player when drafted.

Would be a solid player but would not be giving up much for him

I find all this talk about St Kilda's number one pick being better than potentially 2&3 or 3&4 a bit mystifying. Would've thought GWS would rather the latter option by far. If they get those high picks it gives them 2, 3 and 4 and they could trade those away to another established team in exchange for just about any gun player they want. Even the Hawks would probably jump at the chance to offload one of their midfielders if it meant injecting a top 3 pick, and GWS end up big winners.

Why just deal with package deals that only include Saints players, all for the illustrious pick 1? I reckon StK would be mad to keep ditching their senior players anyway. We've all seen how disastrous that can be for youth development.

Your exactly right, it's likely that it won't be necessary to have pick 1 in order to get Petracca. All GWS need is a pick ahead of us as Stkilda should get Mccartin. Their probs tanking it now so that they can get pick 2 and Petracca so that they don't have to trade with us.

Well seems increasingly clear to me that GWS vs MFC will be the Kreuzer Cup of 2014, except we won't be trying to lose. GWS on the other hand continue their run of bizarre player management. Hope this endless hoarding of early draft picks has been worth all the trouble. Even if only half of them come on, they'll be a frightening team in a few years.

GWS don't need to tank as there is talk that if GWS finish above us, St Kilda will trade pick 1 to GWS (to get Petracca), for GWS first pick (3/4, to use for one of the tall KPP - Mc Cartin) plus another highish pick/player. (GWS have 2 more picks around 20/21 to play with).

Such a deal not within the rules but then when it comes to GWS there are no rules.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was
