Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Players to target at the end of the year

"A handful of Giants are coming out of contract with Carlton and the Western Bulldogs linked to swingman Kristian Jaksch and several clubs led by Richmond and Melbourne keen on powerful midfielder Dylan Shiel."

Huge statement by Tyson there. I hope it has a big impact in the minds of the OOC GWS players who are toying with the idea of coming home.

It would really shove it up 'em if we could snag one or two of their young guns.

In all honesty, what would we have to realistically give up to satisfy GWS for:

- Shiel?

- O'Rourke?

- Cameron?

I think

Shiel - would want pick 3 or 4.

O'Rourke - would want a top 15 pick. Price has dropped like Tyson, but for that reason I think he represents tremendous value.

Cameron - would want pick 3 & 4. Maybe more.

What would you give for Tomlinson 'Machsy', I'm a bit undecided about him but looks to be on the way home.

Apparently GWS are very interested in Christian Petracca, hopefully we can organise a deal for them

If they traded a 'somewhat experienced' player for Petracca like a a Shiel i would be a bit surprised. Not sure how long that can continue to go down the youth path, when they are only making minor inroads after having first grab at prized picks over the past few years. They would be much better trying to entice better established players by moving on fringe players.

GWS will probably want a top 10 pick for any of those kids, but I just can't see it happening.

A first rounder as a minimum though, I'd have thought.

Tomlinson would be great for us, as would Cameron, but I really think our assets (mainly early draft picks at this stage) need to be used to procure quality midfield depth before anything else.

But with Roos having now had a season to properly evaluate players, although it's not much his style, we may see more player movement off our list in trades during this offseason.

I wouldn't be surprised if he's put a line through a couple that still have value.

Gotta be brave to make things happen.

If a player is hell bent on returning to VIC then they'll probably take the best value they can get, rather than keep him against his will and upset the apple cart.

picks 2,3 and Toumpas for Shiel and Cameron?

I rate Jimmy as a prospect but he is struggling, an obvious talent but if it means landing a couple of stars then i'd probably make the call

As ordinary as Toumpas has been i doubt Roos and co. would just throw him in a trade as steak knives. He can still be a star player, has he even turned 20 yet?

And I hope we will beat Brisbane and GWS and get picks 4 and 5.

It comes down to how whether those players want to come home, and whether GWS's recruiting strategy is to still go for the top 5 of the draft to spread the age of their talent pool.

Say both Shiel and Cameron both want to come home. And suppose that Frawley goes and we end up with picks 3 and 4. Would we seriously consider trading both picks for Shiel and Cameron? Both players have 10 years ahead of them and have solid B+ / A Grade credentials, so there is low risk on our part. GWS have plenty of other midfield talent to cover Shiel, plus another top 5 pick to come in. It's also a KPF-heavy draft, so they could recruit another to place Cameron whilst still retaining Boyd and Patton.

I'm of the opinion that gws might only use 3 picks in the draft. They did something similar last year. Because they have activated an end of first round pick that gives them 3 picks inside the top 22/23 ish depending on picks allocated for free agents. If they were to gain say our first pick for one of the above mentioned players they might not even use their 2nd round pick. We could bargain for a player and their 2nd round pick. It's something roosy has done a lot. I would say their 3rd round pick is definitely up for grabs around 40. In trading for say shiel they would want our first pick because he is still contracted, but we could give that up for sheil and maybe their 2nd and 3rd rounds. Roosy would then use those in my opinion for a player like the Vince trade. This would get us in a couple more semi-experienced mids. Or we might be able to use one on malceski if frawley goes to not dilute our pick for him. I don't think the swans would get a 1st round pick for him as compensation so a 2nd round pick would be about 38, they would take a pick around 22/23.

Picks 3 & 4 for Shiel and Tomlinson would be fitting.

A win for both sides too, I think.

3 and 4 for Shiel, O'Rourke and their compo pick which I think is end of first round?

I think O'Rourke has heaps of upside personally and could prove a bargain in the way Tyson did

The only sort of thing I could see them accepting in a trade for those two would be adding a more experienced player with value. We don't have many of those, but Howe is probably one with some appeal. I don't think Toumpas plus picks would appeal to them.

I can see holding three picks early in the draft appealing to GWS, as they could add a tall, Petracca and someone like Pickett to add the pace they need.

Tomlinson is an interesting one...

Last year we recruited JKH, Tyson and Michie - all Oakleigh Chargers boys. This comes a year after Viney joined the club who had also spent time at Oakleigh. Tyson also went to Trinity Grammer. Tomlinson also played for Oakleigh and went to Trinity.

Now it could just be a coincidence, but those three we recruited last year were all sort of out of left field in their own way. Hopefully there is something to it and it helps lure Tomlinson to the dees.

I agree that Petracca is a must get for this draft.

I'm praying that he's there at 3 or thereabouts as I don't believe we'll finish lower than that.

Like the poster about pick 4 for Tomlinson and a later pick could work as long as that pick isn't too far down the pecking order.

Whichever way it goes, I'm desperate for Petracca. The bloke looks to be a wild beast ready to year the competion apart.

Haven't been this excited about a prospect for a while.

But seriously, I can't stress it enough.

Listen to Petracca speak. He's switched on and has the perfect attitude. He's a competitive beast who's built like a bull, has unbelievable explosiveness and hands and an awareness and peripheral vision that Pendles has thanks to his basketballing background.

When you've got those attributes to your name, you cannot trade away a pick that could potentially land this bloke.

He's a freak.

Praying we can draft him but would probably need pick 2 to get him

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
