What puts me off Greene is he might not be available for a season or two, and his problems run a bit deeper than what Roos can fix. I hope he can turn it around as he is a serious talent but he is coming from a long way back.

Same as it ever was, it is the midfield, stupid. Back line looks good, forward line looks OK if Hogan can play. But we've only got 4 AFL class mids N.Jones, Vince, Tyson and Viney (apologies to Daniel Cross) when we need at least 10. Some more may come out of Trengove, Toumpas, Salem, Barry and JKH. Last year Tyson, Salem and Vince - about half our midfield - for 2, 20 and Sylvia (23) was an excellent return. This year it would be great to repeat that and if Frawley goes we'll have an even stronger hand - 3, 4 and 23ish. I didn't anticipate last year's deal, I expect we'll be working hard on something similar.

Having an Essendon supporting wife I watch a lot of Essendon. He is possibly more frustrating than any player at Melbourne and I would not take him for free. He appears hard and appears classy but is neither, makes appalling errors and spends half the match when not turning over the ball falling over or running on the spot.

gary rohan is in some fine, fine form - essentially has now taken the role that andrejs everitt was playing at the swans, and is the obvious replacement if malceski does leave them. he's so quick. can't see swans letting him go.

He's nothing like McKenzie, terrible comparison. One is hard and tough but slow with no skill, the other is pretty much the opposite.

That's not to say Melksham is any good - he's not, he's soft, lazy, and generally just adds nothing to the side.

I think he has a really big upside and that's what I would be looking at. We identified the upside with Tyson and he's a winner for us, we need more of the same.

Roos & Stone will have the inside info on Rohan anyway, so if we do have a go at him we will have a pretty good idea about him. If we don't then so be it, but this is the type of player we need to identify and land. Added to some good drafting and development we will be on our way.
