I watched Jack amble around the ground tonight with no intent or desire to enter the contest.

I've come to the conclusion he is incapable of changing and no matter how many weeks he spends at Casey it won't be enough, he is simply not up to the task.

I doubt any other club would want him so we won't even get a trade for him and he will probably have to serve his time out at Casey. He is as soft as any footballer I've ever seen, if he watches the replay of tonight's game, he will be embarrassed by his lack of effort.

Spot on Robbie I said earlier in the week we should trade him but who give anything.

The last two weeks we have effectively played one short.

All I have herd about is his record breaking sprint at the draft combined but we never see him use it.

His style of play remind me a little of Travis Johnston to be honest.

These JW threads are getting like the Col Silvia ones. Col was never good enough, maybe (a strong possibility) Jack isn't either. Time will tell but all this hand wringing goes nowhere.

You're way off the mark with Trengove. The suspension he got from the Dangerfield incident had a big impact on him, he was hung out to dry by the AFL and the club should have really put up a fight for him. He was badly let down.

He will put his head down and get involved, injury has held him back and I hope he can get back on the park fit and well, he will be a bonus next year if he can.

In the first 20 minutes of round one, I looked at Watts and thought 'this guy might be an elite distributor of the ball with some real upside'. Tonight he provided nothing of value to the team unless you count guarding space, making half hearted leads or looking for soft possessions valuable. How frustrated must Dawes Viney Cross and Jones be with his lack of fire and agression. Give someone else a game who would kill to get the ball to a team mate. Enough !!!!!!!

Please can we stop with the Pendlebury comparisons, they are just plain embarassing. Pendlebury was recruited in 2005 and by 2010 had won a flag and was one of the premier midfielders in the comp. By 2014 he is captaining his side and is in the top 5 players in the comp.

Watts was recruited in 2008 and by 2014 hasn't done anything.

I actually felt sorry for him tonight.

14 minutes into the final quarter, AFL members wing. He is able to get his opponent under the ball, pushes out into space and runs onto the ball. With a paddock ahead of him, and Frawley and Dawes deep, he actually doubles back: he had no one in front of him, but for whatever reason doubled-back into the opponent. He's able to push aside the opponent and get some space again, but then kicks it straight into them.

The balls goes out of bounds, the supporters in the vicinity jeer and yell, and Jack throws his head down.

It was a sad, sad sight. That is a young man completely shot of confidence, and clearly not quite up to the task of AFL footy: he either lacked the confidence to run and carry, or simply panicked and looked back into the corridor for the handball. It was a frustratingly silly decision, and indicative of the club's struggles in going forward all year.

But Jack epitomised it better than anyone.

Gotta feel for the kid. But the VFL beckons. He is not AFL standard. Potential gets you so far. I'm getting sick of people saying he is "talented". Having a nice kick and side-step does not make you a good AFL player. The fundamentals required to win contests and put your team in a better position are things he really struggles with. Salem managed to do it twice in one quarter of football.

He may struggle to play 150 games. He is second-rate.

He does look completely lost in the mid field, and plays like he has no feel for the game. We've tried him up forward, down back and now in the middle.

I think it's all over and the major challenge is how to manage his contract.

He's had five years and Salem did more in five minutes.

Round 1 against an undermanned Saints he was impressive but as each goes by he becomes more exposed.

Just wondering if there is any coincidence in the fact that JW had a pretty good game against the Saints and seemed to be going in harder than ever before (albeit off a low base), then Alex McKinnon broke his neck the following Monday, and JW has ever since reverted to his old very timid self? Do we have a team psychologist anymore?
