Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

We've all hoped and been wrong on picking the turning point in the downswing of our footy club.

So I thought I'd poll where we reasonably think the upswing will become evident. Not talking about storming into the 8, just solid performances and indications we can compete regularly?

Roos said pre-season dont judge as a team until round 5 or 6. I will stick with that even though I think we have gone backwards since the season began

Chinese Whispers...

...and more Chinese whispers. He was talking about the fans being able to see the game plan, nothing about judging the team.

If you want to see a tide turning go to the beach, ours is no chance until we can resolve injury issues and address mental scars.

Damn, I was reading down, to put something similar, I just wish people would suck it up, it's footy, nobody dies if we lose, we'll get there eventually

You begin to understand why Roos initially was so reluctant to get back on board the Reality Bus, it is not the footy, it is the rest of the media driven rubbish to have to put up with day to day

I know but I have faith in Roos and his team, think how far back surprised him as well, think it may even take till next season and another clear out

My lovely lady told me it was amusing to watch me sink further and further into my seat on Sunday, but after a walk home through pleasant East Melbourne and a fine wine I was ok

Exactly, we need a break from injuries, pardon the pun, and the sooner we get key personnel back on the park the sooner confidence will kick in and you will see a competitive Demon side.

A successful footy team would be nice, but anyone with a lovely lady and a fine wine is doing OK.

I dont think there will be a massive improvement from what we saw in the initial NAB rounds. However saying that, those games were a massive improvement on what we saw last year. With the return of some tall forwards, the return of Garland, some assistance to Jake (Jamar/Gawn) and the grunt of Viney I believe we will all be pleasanatly surprised. The players have to not only learn an entirely new game plan but we also have a mid field who have had two games together. Most of us know that putting it together on the training track is easy and much more difficult to do it under pressure on game day. We are playing a compromised game plan caused by having a compromised playing list. Improvement will come slowly and anyone who expected otherwise this year was sadly out of step with reality.

Like Saty I have every faith in Roos and to hear him admit that he was part of the debacle on Sunday because he coached badly was music to my ears. When was the last time if ever did we hear Neeld ever take responsibility for anything that happened last year. Roos now has to ensure the players play to his plan but more importantly he has to deal with the mental issues that the players have been left with from the last couple of years. If anyone can do all of this it is Roosy and his crack team of coaches. I don't ever believe that the team is as bad as they looked on Sunday but as soon as WC had kicked a couple of goals and we were 0.0, their heads went down - with a big sign going up - here we go again. To me this is the biggest hurdle that Roosy has to fix. There were no signs of fumbling against Saints like what was displayed on Sunday. They do have the skills but I am not sure of the belief in themselves.

I think the tide will turn in 2016.

Roos will get away from moneyball/stop gap and the focus will be on youth and development.

So far Roos has found the right balance, adding Cross, Vince - whilst also maximising pick 2 to get in Salem and Tyson.

GWS might buy into a Boyd or Patton trade - given how strong the KP's are this year.

It fits in with the trend of GWS buying themselves time until their side is settled.

GWS are managing their list well, it makes no sense to have 3 potential superstar KP's in at the one time, while other sides push their price up.

They should trade Boyd or Patton for a younger KP, that way they can manage their list/cap better and give themselves a better chances of retain their players in the long term. Also, front loading contracts like GWS do, makes more sense to front load 2 - then another one 2 years later, instead of 3 at once and pay overs.

We think of everything. Pretty thorough, huh?

I don't think it takes that much to be honest (to set it up), just a brain storm and hey presto.

On topic. Hopefully there will be light at the end of the tunnel soon. Just hope it's not another train.

It's encouraging that 37 of 44 still believe that an upswing is in the works... if still a while off.

Not sure you draw that conclusion PaulRB as your Poll is structured to get that result.

You give seven alternatives and six assume there is going to be a turn.

But anyway it is a bit of fun and I have enjoyed a chance to discuss a matter concerning the MFC that is little hearted and entertaining.

You have also set a record no one has asked for the thread to be closed.

Good work.

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
